Udupi: VHP, Bajrang Dal urge state government to stop illegal slaughter of cattle

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Aug 20: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have urged Karnataka state government to stop the slaughter of cattle in Karnataka during Eid on August 22 and other days.

The organisations have urged the government to prevent illegal sale, transport and slaughter of cattle including calves. In a memorandum submitted by the organisations to the deputy commissioner (DC), they urged government authorities to stop the slaughter of buffalo and bulls below 12 years of age and allow the slaughter of those above 12 years only after obtaining written permission from competent authorities.

VHP and Bajrang Dal have urged the state government to strictly follow the directions of Supreme Court and to make sure that no slaughter of animals takes place as per 1959 law banning slaughter of animals.

“The state government has formed district committees to strictly implement the rules prescribed by deputy commissioner. The committee has the director of the department of animal husbandry, officials of district transport, chief official of zilla panchayat, environment pollution control board officers, officials of municipal council and local groups.” the memorandum adds.

“VHP and Bajrang Dal urge deputy commissioner to call an emergency meeting of the committee, issue orders to committee officials to prevent illegal sale, transport and slaughter of cattle without bowing to pressure or getting lured. It also requests Muslim brethren to celebrate Bakrid in non-violent manner. Action against contempt of court will have to be taken against the state government if it fails to act,” states the organisations in the memorandum.

my dear VHP/BD why don't you also submit a request to central govt, where amit shah close buddy operates India's largest abattoir, where thousands of cattle/buffalo get slaughtered daily and India is the largest exporter of beef to the rest of the world?

Where is our raja dharma gone awry?

once I was playing golf in a gulf country along with few friends from north India, at lunch break most of my north indian frends who are staunch brahmins shocked me when they opted for beef burger, I had to resort to veg burger as I don't eat beef, however I respected their choice as it is their karma?

why should I bother, so don't bother people what they eat and what they don't, instead focus on what we hindus can do to get rid of age old practices, maday sthana? pankthi beda?, chatur varna system? and all those stupidities that we can part of our system?

If you want feast to be non violence kindly stop slaughtering Chicken during your PATHANAJA festival.

Several cows died in Kodagu and Kerala.. What these did to them and the poor family who owned them. Instead of doing micromanagement in our city these goons could have gone to some flood relief camps and provided their service.

What is meant by illegal!?. Is it slaughtering by one community becomes illegal because another doesnt like it!?. I have seen these very same people who are submitting the memorandum supporting slaughtering of thousands of animals inspite of the ban at Kaup Temple!!!. They slaughter animals right on the road and its a very disturbing thing to watch blood everywhere!. Even buffalos were slaughtered there sometime back!. When this is the case, why this double standards!?

Cows are important part of farming... Whether you milk them or not, they add nitrogen to soil every day.. So please stop slaughtering cows and bulls... Otherwise Kerala like situation will come... People need to beg for food shelter etc.. Wake up before it is too late

It's not just cows and bulls, but every animal and plant when exccrete (applicable to animal) and die, add N2 to soil. Also understand that cattle contribute to global warming too due to release of methane (CH4) in large quantities to atmosphere during flatulence.

Do you know what is there in cow dung? Do you know any thing about organinc farming?
Why farmers add manures to plants. If cows are out grazing they add dung to soil everyday...

Actually you dont know much about farming even though it looks you do farming!. natural farming is much better than organic or fertilizer based farming. Cow dung in excess actually destroys soil fertility, unless it is first digested like in a gobar gas plant!. Instead of cow dung, try to use natural farming using natural composters and earth worms and see the results!. You will get double the yield and more healthy crops than cow dung based farming!. Please dont counter me for that sake! try, check and comment!. In China they use human waste in farming and they are are getting good results!.

@Sri_elder: By protecting cows, are you ready to guarantee flood situation like that in kerala will not occur in kerala? So according to that, the rest of the countries should have been overflooded by now. Your statement doesnt make sense. Stop mutton slaughter coz sheeps give wool. Stop korda katta which is more devastating than this. Why just cow?

Why do they show interest on muslim brothers during their feast time? They do slaughter other animals ,mutton or chicken too. They should also (Dals)ensure that they dont harm anyone ,doubting that they are transporting cattle.they should allow police to handle case .not self taking law in their hand.

@Rita: Its during this festival that BD/VHP dont have enough beef stock to export. By stopping slaughter, seizing these cattles and the ones being transported, where do you think these cattles go later on? M sure they do not feed those cattles forever!!!

In Kerala 10 lakh residence are struggling in relief camp and in our Coorg 21 deaths more than 15 villages are completely affected.
For this Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh sister organisations of VHP and Bajrang Dal instead of delivering relief materials they wanted to stop slaughter coincide with Muslim sacrificial festival.

If the VHP and Bajrang Dal really worship cow as mother why don't they write open letter to Prime Minister Office and asked to ban the $5 Billion business in 48 hours?

If there is no religious compulsion with export of 'beef ' trade, why they wanted to ban it in India which is one of the easy and cheap resources of protein?

I request the District Commissioner to check their organisations registration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and increase patrolling to ensure peaceful atmosphere with the festivity. Also next time they approach with memorandum get them sign counter guarantee in written in the view of 'Lynching' across India.
