Puttur: Environmental awareness rally held at SPC

Puttur, Aug 20: To commemorate 72nd Independence Day of the nation an environmental awareness rally was organized by various functional units of the college like 3/19 KAR. BN NCC, Student Council, Suraksha Consumer Forum, Eco Club, Rovers & Rangers, National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross Society, Alumni Association and 91/19 KAR BN NCC, 41A/5 KAR NAVAL NCC, 44/6 KAR AIR NCC of St Philomena High School on August 15.

Principal Prof Leo Noronha declared the rally open and delivered his inaugural address. He said, “Environmental protection is the basic duty of every citizen of the nation.” Headmaster of St Philomena High School Oswald Rodrigues graced the occasion.

The rally began from the college quadrangle and proceeded towards Darbe circle through Kaverikatte. Finally, it was concluded in front of the main entrance gate of the college.

During the rally, students raised the slogans related to the protection of environment, and thereby, tried to create awareness among the public. More than 500 students of various functional units of the college and high school took part in this rally.

Rally was coordinated by NCC officer Lt Johnson David Sequeira, student welfare officers Dr Chandrashekar K and Bharathi S Rai, convenors of Suraksha Consumer Forum Thejaswi Bhat and Abhishek Suvarna, convenors of Eco Club Nagaraju M, Rakshitha R B and Smitha Vivek, convenors of Rovers & Rangers Meenakshi K, Khalander Shareef and Harshad Ismail, convenors of National Service Scheme Madhusudan N and Shashiprabha B, convenors of Youth Red Cross Society Venkateshwari K S, Nancy Lavina Pinto and Nilesh Joy Dias, president of Alumni Association Jayaraj Bhandary, NCC officer Army wing F/o Naresh Lobo, NCC officer Navy wing S/o Clement Pinto and NCC officer Air Force wing S/o Roshan Sequeira.
