Mangaluru: Three arrested for stealing mobile phone, cash from cop

Mangaluru, Aug 20: Pandeshwar police and personnel of anti-rowdy squad south have arrested three men in connection with threatening and snatching mobile phone and cash from Srinivas, police constable of Armed Reserve Police Force near Nehru Maidan in the city.

The arrested accused are identified as Yathish M S alias Yati (22) and Mohammed Ashraf alias Ajju (23), both residents of Chikkamagalur, Ashraf alias Mohammed Ashraf alias Nizam (21), a resident of Sarapadi Ajilamogaru in Bantwal.

Three months ago, when constable Srinivas was going through the lane inside Nehru Maidan in the night, three strangers suddenly waylaid him and snatched his mobile and stole Rs 450 cash from his wallet. A case was registered in this regard in the Pandeshwar police station.

It is learnt that Yatish M S, the main accused in this case is a notorious thief. He along with his accomplice Ravi alias Shankarlingegowda was involved in chain snatching and stealing of two-wheelers in and around Bengaluru. This fact was unearthed during the interrogation by the police.

It is learnt that the accused used to loaf around Nehru Maidan. The stolen mobile phones have been confiscated from the accused.

The operation was conducted under the direction of T R Suresh, police commissioner. DCPs Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashant guided the team of Pandeshwar police inspector Sainath M Rane, sub-inspector Rajendra and personnel.

    Nehru Maindan is a very dangerous place even in day time as there are somany thieves roaming around for the opporununity to steal them when they walk alone . They have a group of more than a dozen in the gang. so please be careful while crossing Nehru maidan alone even in day time particularly during 1 pm to 4 pm

    Mohit it seems the BJPeee ruled states are free from crimes ! crimes / corruption its became part of our daily life! dont blame it on one particular party which you dont like it ! HOLY BOOKS are not capable to solve the human nature till the date. live alone regardless any parties here. All the parties are tainted with several issues and any party MP or MLA are exempted from the criminal charges ! a big NO

    No fault of these people. Congress made them thieves....gold smugglers...cattle traffickers...havala racketers...anti nationals...due to use them only for vote bank. What facilities given them to live good life society. Only given them bhagyas/celebrating only jayanthis..can person lead a good life. For sake of food..anybody turn towards crime..and even steal things from cop..when time permits. It's not at all of there mistake. Even cheetah..enter our backyard for food due to human beings encroached there land. Today's day..survival the fittest.
