Mangaluru: Air travel to Bengaluru from city in high demand

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 18: Due to the closure of Shiradi Ghat and Mangaluru-Mysuru roads and railway service from the city to the state capital due to landslides, the demand for air travel has skyrocketed. Due to the unforeseen situation on road and rail, people who have to travel to Bengaluru in an emergency are opting for air travel as there is no other choice.

All the seats in the Spice Jet, Jet Airways and Indigo flights flying from Mangaluru International Airport to Bengaluru and vice versa are jam-packed. Many travellers could not get the tickets at all.

In total 11 flights of three different companies are operating between Mangaluru and Bengaluru. Jet Airways operates six, Indigo three and Spice Jet two flights every day to and from Mangaluru. Around 1000 to 1500 people usually travel daily between these cities. However, from the past three days, nearly 2000 people are flying by these aircrafts as per the information given by the airline officials.

The airfare during normal days between this route is Rs 2500 to 3000. However, due to the increasing demand, the price also is hiked by the airlines in the quest of making some quick bucks. The fair even went to as high as Rs 12,000 in an airline, but this could not be confirmed.

Can you avoid using the word 'BUCKS'.In the above sentence 'However, due to the increasing demand, the price also is hiked by the airlines in the quest of making some quick bucks',bucks can be replaced by money. No point in using US slang for money aka 'buck'.

Looting fellow countrymen when they are in distress and then contribute to relief funds to get tax rebate...corporate charity... Our style....There should be a law which prevents businesses doing this unethical thing. No use blaming any government. They too get a part of profit somehow. What we need is meaningful laws to protect citizens and their rights and strong judges to give verdicts...

Fleecing customers should be stopped. DGCA or the Civil Aviation Ministry should take this up strongly.
