Udupi: Store manager deceives customers and company by using duplicate swipe machine

Udupi, Aug 17: A case has been registered against the manager of Sketcher Stores at Manipal, near here of using a separate card swiping machine along with the company's machine and duping the customers and the company to the tune of several thousand rupees.

Kartik, who was the manager is the said store from June 9, 2018, to July 26, 2018, used to ask the customers to swipe their cards in a separate machine and then used to swipe in company's machine saying that the other machine is not working properly and used to provide company's bill.

Kartik used to send the details of the cards like card number and pin captured on the machine other than that of the company to a person called Dude via ICQ software, who in turn used to withdraw the money online and send it to Kartik. He has deceived the company an amount of Rs 83,249. In the police complaint filed by the company, it is also mentioned that a certain individual by the name Kiran has misplaced this machine.
