Udupi: District Congress, Sevadal unit celebrate Independence Day

Udupi, Aug 17: District Congress and district Sevadala unit celebrated Independence Day at Udupi service bus stand and Udupi Congress office.

KPCC member Murali Shetty hoisted the tricolour flag and delivered the message of Independence Day. Shabeer Mohammad, district Congress vice-president, garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

At Udupi Congress office Prakyath Shetty, vice president, Udupi district Congress, hoisted the national flag. Addressing the gathering he said, “It is a commendable moment that there were leaders like Mahatma Gandhi who strived hard to get the country independence from British rule using Congress’ platform. In the last 72 years, the Congress party has led the country towards development and has been recognized in the whole world.”



Speaking on the occasion Ashok Kumar Katapady, president, District Sevadala unit, Udupi said, “Congress Sevadal has played an important role in the country's freedom struggle. Congress had engaged in the country's Independence fight though no other party has done it.”

Dinesh Puthran, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor, Narasimha Moorthy, Harish Kini, Peeru Saheb, Yathish Karkera ,Sadashiva Kattegudde, Sharath Shetty, Kishore, and Riyaz were present for the event.
