Bengaluru: Vajpayee demise: State declares holiday for schools, colleges and govt offices on Aug 17

Bengaluru, Aug 16: The state government has expressed deep grief on the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and has announced seven days mourning from August 16 to 22 in the state.

August 17 has been declared a holiday for schools, colleges and government offices. The holiday will apply to all except those who are employed in emergency work such as distribution of food due to flood-like situation.

There will be no entertainment programmes during the week. The national flag on buildings will be reduced to half-mast.
