Udupi, Aug 16: The residents of Matapady-Neelavara area have protested against poor road condtion by planting paddy saplings here on Wednesday, August 15.

The road connecting Matapady-Neelavara region from Brahmavara main road is in pathetic condition. Though few years ago, the road was repaired with the funds released by the district panchayath, the condition of the road has worsened with potholes causing inconvenience to the residents as well as commuters.

Following bad condition of the road, the buses too have cancelled plying on the road forcing residents to go by walk. The road condition has also caused inconvenience to the students and several motorists have injured themselves.

Fed up with the people's representatives, the locals in the area planted paddy saplings on the middle of the road and protested. One of the locals Stephen Sequeira has questioned the concerned officials for not repairing the road despite former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj releasing Rs 5 crore for the same.

The locals have warned aggressive protests if the people's representatives and officials fail to solve the issue.

Yes Jossey take all these people to Mumbai and provide them vehicles there. Let them drive it in Amchi Mumbai instead of creating dramas and tensions to peaceful residents of this area. Is there a need to sow paddy saplings or some other plants/trees? Someone may still use/drive on that road. Why these people don't sense future needs or create facilities themselves? Will they wait for Government to respond if an emergency arises?Did these people got treatment in Government Hospitals only, when they were ill? Did they graduate in Government schools only? Didn't they admit their children in private schools even though there were enough government schools? Why they expect goverment to do repairs in monsoon,When you are greasing palms of officials for Passport, ration,death/ birth certificate which can be done by Government agencies alone. When will our country men mend their ways?
