Mangaluru, Aug 16: Konkani comedy drama ‘Bostu’ was staged on Wednesday, August 15 at Don Bosco Hall in city.

The troupe had arrived from Mumbai to stage the drama. The popular drama had seen many shows in Mumbai. It was also staged at Gurpur on August 14.

In a brief stage programme, prior to the drama, Fr Valerian D’Souza from Milagres church, former Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino, Rachana president Stany Alvares, Daijiworld founder Walter Nandalike, actor and NRI Dayan D’Souza, comedian Dolla Manglur, director and producer Leo Fernandes Ujire graced the stage.

 

Fr Valerian Fernandes congratulated the team and wished well for the drama. He said it is nice to welcome Konkani talents from outside the twin-districts. He called on them to continue with the mission of spreading Konkani culture.

Walter Nandalike said,“When drama troupes from outside Mangaluru come here, they visit without expecting any monetary returns. Hence they should be given better welcome and patronage here. We go to places and get very good support. We need to learn to reciprocate the same. I thank the people who have come here to watch this drama. Tell others about this team, so that they can also come next time to witness more dramas from the same team,”

Roy Castelino lauded the troupe for taking initiative to stage the drama in Gurpur and Mangaluru. “The troupes from Mangaluru used to visit gulf nations and other parts of India including Mumbai. But now the situation has changed. Mangaluru is lucky to get drama troupes coming from outside the coastal belt. We will always support you,”

Floyd D’Mello Cascia compered the stage programme.

The drama with suspense and comedy won the hearts of audience.

Leo Fernandes, originally from Ujire and now staying in Jerimeri Mumbai, has written and directed the drama. He also played the character of protagonist Bostu.

All the artistes were from Mumbai of Mangaluru origin.
