Mangaluru: St Ann's PU College celebrates Independence Day

Mangaluru, Aug 16: St Ann's PU College celebrated the nation's 72nd Independence Day with patriotic fervour and zeal befitting the occasion.

Sr Carmel Rita, the provincial superior presided as the chief guest. Sr Maria Kripa, the superior of the convent and secretary of St Ann’s institutions, Sr Ida Barboza, secretary of the Apostolic Carmel educational society, Sr Rose Agnes and Sr Nirmala Francis, provincial councillors graced the occasion. Heads of sister institutions, the staff and students of the campus institutions were also present for this auspicious ceremony.



The celebration began with a prayer song followed by the welcome address. The chief guest Sr Carmel Rita hoisted the national flag, the beats of the college band echoed the National Anthem. Significance of this historic day was given and patriotic song was sung by the students in remembrance of all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our motherland.
