Mangaluru: Honest auto driver returns bag with Rs one lac to owner

Mangaluru, Aug 15: An auto rickshaw driver returned the bag of a passenger, who left it by mistake in his auto, containing Rs 1,10,000 in cash and showed that honesty is the best policy.

Shameer, a patient suffering from knee pain, had arrived at Kankanady railway station from Kannur in order to get treatment for his ailment at Yenepoya hospital in the city. However, while getting down from the auto rickshaw near the hospital, he forgot to collect his bag from the seat. Shameer immediately called the police control room and informed the same.

Vasant Shetty, the driver of the auto rickshaw, who saw the unclaimed bag on the rear seat of his vehicle, promptly informed the same to Konaje police station and returned the bag to Shameer in the evening in the presence of the police officials.

The police and Shameer have lauded the honesty of Vasant Shetty.
