Kundapur: Man assaulted by the gang over alimony issue

Kundapur, Aug 15: A gang assaulted a man who refused to increase the amount of alimony given to his wife.

The marriage of couple Uday Kumar Shetty and Mallika Shetty, residents of Guddeyangadi Ammunje Sedkuli under Nada village had turned sour and a case was registered in the court. According to the judgment given by the court, Uday was paying Rs 3,000 every month promptly as alimony to his divorced wife. However, of late, Mallika had demanded to increase the amount citing that increase in the cost of living. Uday had denied to this request from his former wife.

It is alleged that Uday Kumar Shetty, who denied his ex-wife's request to increase the amount of alimony, was attacked by the accused Sarvotham Shetty, Anand Shetty and seven others, who came in two cars and forcefully took Uday's gold chain weighing three pounds and Rs 35,000 in cash, which he had kept in his Omni. In addition, Uday has mentioned that he was threatened with dire consequences by the members of the gang.

A case is registered in this regard in the Gangolli police station and investigation is underway.
