Udupi: Thanksgiving Mass held prior to annual feast of Our Lady of Velankanni Shrine

Udupi, Aug 14: Our Lady of Vailankanni Shrine’s annual feast will be held on August 15. Prior to the feast, a thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was held, with bishop of Bellary Dr Henry D’Souza presiding as the main celebrant on Tuesday, August 14.

In his homily, the bishop spoke on God’s blessings and how he sacrificed his own son Lord Jesus to save mankind. God’s blessings are powerful. It changes one’s life. If one prays, they can see light even in the darkest days of one’s life, he said.

Director of Our Lady of Vailankanni Shrine Fr Alban D’Souza, Udupi deanery dean Valerian Mendonca, Fr Romeo Lewis and other priests were the co-celebrants of the mass.

Fr Alban expressed his gratitude and thanked everyone for participating.

The annual feast of the shrine on August 15, will have bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo as the main celebrant of the festive mass, along with other priests as concelebrants on the occasion. A fellowship meal will be arranged for all the devotees on the occasion.

There will be a mass at 12.00 pm in Konkani, 4.00 pm in Kannada and at 6.00 pm in English on August 15.
