Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 14: This Independence Day, APD Foundation will proudly observe '1947 seconds for Freedom' to celebrate the 'Freedom for environment'.

This event is an attempt at raising awareness to educate the public on the importance of a pollution free and healthy city.

The acts will be based on the concepts of 'Improv Theatre' where the acts will be performed live on the spot. The performance will be based on a situation, without prior rehearsals or practice. A 'Nukkad Naatak' will be performed by the students of KMC, Mangaluru. The band 'Drum Maro Drum' will perform live at the event with songs specially written and dedicated to nature, citizens, as well as the city corporation who have been trying their level best to keep the city clean. All this will be achieved within a span of 1947 seconds.

As a part of the theme, a show on 2 consecutive days is scheduled on August 14th, 2018 and August 15th, 2018. The whole Programme will be 32 minutes 27 seconds long which translates to the concept of 1947 seconds. The show will be conducted 2 times a day at prominent locations like KSRTC Bus Stand, Mangalore Central Railway Station and malls in the city. The shows will be held between 5 pm and 7pm on these days.

"Through this event, we aim to bring about awareness in a fun, unique and non-advocative way. For a long time now, people have been trying to fight for environmental issues with advocacy and seriousness, but we aim to make environmental responsibility a fun and enjoyable activity for everyone," said Abdullah Rehman, founder of the APD Foundation.

"Our forefathers stormed revolutions against the British, to free us of their greed, but what good is freedom without health and environment to enjoy it? It is our responsibility to protect and nurture the homeland our forefathers gifted us," said Karl D'Cunha, event coordinator.

The shows will be compered by RJ Sudeep and Sushma Shetty, jQuest. A popular YouTube channel will be the online promotion partner for the event. The first show will be held at the KSRTC Bus Stand in Bejai at 4.30 pm on August 14.
