Mangaluru: 11-yr-old dies after bus hits two-wheeler in a bid to overtake at Nanthoor

Mangaluru, Aug 13: An 11-year-old girl died after a private bus, in a bid to overtake, hit the two wheeler in which she was travelling here on Sunday August 12.

The deceased has been identified as Madiha, daughter of Roshan and Noor Jahan, residents of Katipalla.

The mishap occurred when Noor Jahan was on her way to attend a wedding along with her two kids in her two-wheeler.

 

When they reached Nanthoor, a private Udupi-Mangaluru bus tried to overtake the two-wheeler. While overtaking, the bus hit the two-wheeler due to which the trio suffered serious injuries. Madiha, who suffered severe head injuries, died at the hospital.

Noor Jahan and her son Tayyab Ansar (4) have been shifted to a hospital.

It is learnt that Roshan and his family hail from Shivamogga and three months ago Noor Jahan and her two kids started living in a rented house in Suratkal. Roshan is working in Bengaluru and his elder daughter is also studying there.

    Killer Buses of Mangalore!!!! So many lives lost because of these reckless drivers . Wonder why society is not doing something drastic to stop these lunatics . It’s obvious that the RTO , Police and politicians have been pocketed by the Bus Mafia . Another precious life lost - Sad state of affairs in this otherwise peaceful district.

    Two wheelers should ban on ride on fast track.
    similarly overtaking from left side of the vehicle should penalized.
    No honky ponky unnecessarily while overtaking.

    The bus drivers are in hurry because they have to maintain timings. If they don't, that will affect the days collection because at the end of the day it is a private bus and the owner has to earn money.which means people keep on dying like this for someone's greed. Solution--- run government busses on these roads.

    Mangalore Municipal corportation taking precaution measure
    to safety of vehiclles as well as valuable life.

    sad this beautiful kid lost its life due to stupidity of driver,.. he should be jailed till death.. Kundapur to mangalore buses do go on roads.. they fly and no one are bothered as well... police people just watch them like a movie scene and keep quite.... not only bus but police should be blamed because no serious action has been taken till date for driving like that... if the person driving commit mistake and has good money .. he is left free... the bus drivers and tipper drivers think they are pilots and drive the bus.. men inside such buses also keep quite until something happen. After accidents happen.. everyone start pelting stones at the bus or lorries and the public property is damaged.. why cant anyone stop the bus driver while he is over speeding... why such negligence in us.... because of such drivers we have lost a innocent kid.. feeling very bad for their family... may god give strenght to thier family

    Indian roads are among the most dangerous in the world. Yet, it is strange that nothing is being done to improve this situation. Lives are being lost regularly on a daily basis all over the country and our law makers are not even talking about that. They are just not bothered and that is because we don't value human lives in our country. Even in the case of Mangalore, several accidents have taken place around Nantoor and nothing is being done to prevent more accidents. Probably, things will be different if a minister meets with this fate.

Mr NRI udupi has sommented last accident happnd between truck n buss where people injured ..m he commented that in peak time truck shuld banned in peak time that worker n student have hassel free travel now what shuld have done. While little angel lost life by spending overtaking bus which lost her life ...in my comment so I replyid u it will easy if u can truck buss drivers drive l like formula 1...now plzzz tell me what can u do for this new conspect ....

    These private buses should be given permit to run only after they attach speed controller device, the driver cannot accelerate above 60 kmph speed, Kerala state is strictly imposed with this rule.

    Very sad news may her soul rest in peace ..traffic police r very busy in wanting bribe from the people. They target only innocent.yesterday I was going to Mangalore through ullal near thokkottu 2 police men caught me and I have submitted everything and only for reason I am not possessed Driving license with me they started their angry they said no no its impossible u wud have to come there to court but I requested many times but they didn't heed my request..finally I paid 200 rs(interestingly one of the police man was saying YETHH KORIYE 200 ha 500 KEN first police men said borchi borchi..ayene korve ejjanda ayeg court g barodapuda ..I said OK I will come court and withdrawn 200 rs from them

    Completely agree with you.... people should get together and stop all the speeding buses.. also tippers... i literary get scared when i see a bus of tipper on road while driving.... we indians are dumb.. we see accidents , talk and forget... and police and govt knows that and they have taken us for granted..so sad, the kid lost its life

    Y punishment for driver only 10 lakh n 10 year?? Y not to Rto. Police Dept n for road contractor n politician. Let them also get punished ...bcz they also r involved ..Rto for givin time for buss each seconds bus no time ...police for not cared in any way only fit in case then usless..politician for fake promise ...if this done everything will be ok. Y can’t instal camera for speed limit let splash for speed. N make a fine of 1500 for speed same as gulf n Kerala y not here if once it done people save life bus will also go in certain speed

    Ivar, it is not just the question of speed but the driving manners and sense. These reckless bus drivers are capable of crushing others even without speed. The day when they realize the two wheelers and pedestrians are to be respected the most, these accidents get reduced drastically. RIP little girl. Hope others injured recover quickly.

    Bus owners lobby is stronger than police, politicians. They are above common law.
    I have seen the cases where buses and its drivers come back to work even before the victim is cremated. The department will give brake inspection report so fast, that even highly developed countries cant match...the release of bus takes place in lightning mode.....such efficiency is shown by our department...

    I saw the cctv footage of this accident & it was really shocking it shows clearly how reckless the bus driver was in hurry of over taking . Why can’t govt take strict action against these drivers. Or either cancel the permit if we don’t awake it still continues so pls awake manglpreans

    We want Government buses which have speed governors all over Dakshina Kannada. Ban private buses. UT Khadar as the district incharge minister should work on this with the transport minister of Karnataka. I request all residents of DK to put pressure on the minister for sanctioning more government buses.

    This is a familiar practice by the bus people ...Even I had complained many times with photographs in the WhatsApp number given by Mangalore traffic to give complaints about the traffic issues but no use...Even I asked them what action had been taken ..and there is no reply..You can see the arrogant driving and unwanted parking in the cities and the traffic people are still busy with collecting fine from million rider in a two wheeler without hamlet...
