315 drunken drivers booked during three-hour campaign


Panaji, Aug 12 (TOI): Despite the much-publicised drive that Goa police conducted against drunken driving, police personnel booked nearly two drivers every minute who were driving under the influence of alcohol late Friday night.


As many as 315 individuals were caught during the special three-hour drive and their vehicles were attached by the traffic cell and district police. The attached vehicles will be released only after court proceedings, police officials said.

Speaking to TOI, superintendent of police Dinraj Goverkar said that out of 315 cases, 194 cases have been booked by the traffic cell, 74 cases have been booked by the south Goa district police and 47 cases have been booked by the north Goa district police.
