Mangaluru: PM Modi failed to give permanent solution to farmers’ woes - DCM Parameshwara

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DC/ANK)

Mangaluru, Aug 10: Deputy chief minister (DCM) Dr G Parameshwara said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to give a permanent solution to the woes of distressed farmers.

Speaking to media persons here at Circuit House on Friday, August 10, Parameshwara said, "Farmer suicides are a major concern for the government. Hence, we decided to waive off farmers’ loans. It is our responsibility to stop farmers from taking the extreme step. It is sad that PM Modi has failed to solve farmers' problems. He could not take a decision to waive off loans of farmers in nationalized banks. The state government is planning to waive off loans in nationalized banks too,”

"The schemes launched by previous Siddaramaiah-led government will continue to function. Karnataka is called as progressive state and we want to give good governance. From 2008 to 2013 BJP ruled the state. It was a corrupt government and no development took place. If they come back to power, we will go back to that same old situation,” he added.

Regarding MLC Bhoje Gowda's statement, he said that it was his personal opinion that the Congress lost because of anti-Hindutva policies. "We have our own analysis as to why we won less number of seats."

Responding to media query on possible alliance with the JD(S), he said that there will not be any alliance in the local body polls.

He also said that the state government will deport Bangladeshis and Africans who are staying illegally in the state.

The DCM also informed that the state government is contemplating on introducing pant and shirt uniform for policewomen instead of saree.

Dr Parameshwara was in city before heading to Bhatkal to attend a private function.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai, former MLAs J R Lobo and Pramod Madhwaraj, district Congress president Harish Kumar and others were present.

Politicians have not understood the complex Agri scene : unpredictable weather conditions & rain fall & Water , costly Inputs , unscrupulous politicians, government officials & middle men , greedy agriculture & allied support industries wanting to make quick money, no intensive & effective field oriented research, un accountable agriculture universities & research institutions, very wide price fluctuations for agricultural produce. Storage and Processing issues.
Currently there are so many players in the field (claiming that they can improve agriculture & life of farmers) without full & comprehensive knowledge of the problems that our farmers are facing. The government present and past have lot of initiatives and support but unfortunately the benefits do not reach the needy farmers. Both Centre and State have to work in Cohesion. Blame game will not work.

Price support system alone will not give good result due to wrong approach by government .

To increase the benefit / profit of the former, government has to take steps to control / reduce the cost of production. So that the cost of living also under control. Otherwise , government will increase the support price , it leads to increase the cost of living .

    FARMERS PROBLEMS :
    1) Demonetization /GST affected Agri
    2) High Inputs Costs, Diesel & Petrol , Paints & Cement and High Medical Costs
    3) Lowest Price for Agri Commodities .
    4) Doubling the Farmers Income Gimic will not work .

    7 Points of ACTION :
    1) MSP as per Dr MSS Committee recommendation
    2) Pension for 60years + farmers
    3) Proper Practical Crop Insurance
    4)Proper Lab to Land policy
    5) Stable Land laws Forest & Tribal Land safety & welfare
    6) Low Cost Inputs and switch to sustainable Farming- Gradual Shift to Liquid Inputs
    7) Improving Infrastructure & Marketing& Switch to SWAR Irrigation

What happened to Kumara's loan waiver?

Instead of doing that drama withdraw the loan waiver..
Instead give 10,000/- rupees pocket money to all loan taken farmers...
At least that will make them temporarily happy 😊!

Our Parameshi thinks loan waiver is a permanent solution!!!!!. . Next year again loan waiver of loan waiver will come near the elections time? . What about the honest farmer who allready repaid his loans. how much is paid back to him? . if this goes on, will not the farmer think twice before repaying any loan?. why incetevise a defaulter? Today some farmers have become smart. even natural deaths are portayed as sucides.

One more question? what about loans of poor fishermen, poor artisans & others?. Today politics is played in the name of most emotional figure in the Indian context that is the farmer. Given that Bulk of indians depend on farming and form a sizable chunk of votebank this is being done.

Yeah , if what you said was true. Then why is Khangress losing every state?. Why did it fare in Ktaka so badly 140 to 77 seats? Why is 3rd ranker HDK ruling even when Khangress won more seats? Why is Khangress fighting for survival? Why is Khangress hunting for parties for alliance for 2019 LS elections?
These weekly press meets with rejected leaders in the dais wont help revival. At least Youth Khangress yesterday provided entertainment as you scored a big self goal!

Why didn't farmer's woes attended during congress rule of 60 years.
Who is responsible for the poor state of this country ? the one who ruled 4.5 years or 60 years ?
We are a country of full of problems, politicians only highlight farmers distress, they only see votes in form of farmers, who will look after urban poor and underprivileged in other part of the country
