Mangaluru: Faculty from University of Newcastle visit Expert PU College

Mangaluru, Aug 10: Prof Ajayan Vinu, renowned material scientist and the director of Global Innovation Chair for Advanced Nanomaterials, the University of Newcastle, Australia and his team visited the Expert PU College campus Valachil and had a lively interactive session with second PU students.

Natalie Downing, assistant director of Faculty Services, Dr Jamie Mackee, associate professor of School of Architecture and Built Environment were also shared the dais with their presentation about sophisticated techniques in engineering and sustainable energy as well.



Prof Vinu explained to students about some break through researches in fighting against cancer by using Nanomaterials. Prof Vinu and his colleagues opined that there are ample opportunities for Indian students and researchers in areas such as transforming industries, cancer research and creating healthy future by using Nanoporous materials, including Silicas, metallosilicates, polymers, fullerenes and carbides etc.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions presided over the function. Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions handed over a memento to the dignitaries. Ankush N Nayak, director Information Technology welcomed the gathering and Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal rendered the vote of thanks.
