Mangaluru: Man who used to beat up father asks for forgiveness

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 9: The people of the area knew that Suresh Bhat (38), son of Yogish Bhat, used to torture his father for money since the last eight years. Yogish Bhat distributes holy water and Prasadam at Raghavendra Math at Hosabettu here.

A video clip which showed Suresh Bhat visiting the Math, beating up his father, and dragging his box away, became viral in social websites. People overwhelmingly condemned the son for his heartless behaviour. Many expressed strong opinion that the son needed to be punished for his sin of hitting his old aged father.

The police of Suratkal station, on Wednesday, asked Suresh Bhat, who stays at Udupi, to come to the police station. Once he came there, he was asked to prostrate before his father and seek forgiveness for his wrongdoings. He was also warned that if he continued with torturing his father, he would be subjected to stringent punishment as per law. Suresh Bhat agreed to the conditions posed by the police and promised to look after his father with love and respect. He was sent away thereafter with a curt warning.

Yogish Bhat has been serving at Raghavendra Math since the last several years, and has been loved and respected by devotees.

Very sad Incident. Old father..his personality reveals how much he works hard.
How he can think of raising his hands on his old hard working father? Son will get back from his children what he has done to his father...he didn't ask forgiveness willingly and in repentance from his heart. He asked pardon out of fear of police intervention.
Don't take curse from the parents. They are the living gods on earth.

Son had done what police asked from him, fearing otherwise police would punish him.I dont think he has done freely. When he really repents his behavier he would never done first, second he would do it before police asked him. What a apathy, old father work and son is interested only on money from father ,and beat him for it.Future will show really son would not harass his father.

Sorry, but if this guy is uncivilized enough to behave with his father like that in public, all that was witnessed by police is a sham. Police should have given him some third degree to ensure that if our civil society cannot instill civility to respect not just parents, but even elders, and old aged people, this man needs to be given the pill he prescribed to his father, atleast a dozen doses together.

Just because the police asked him to apologize to his father, the son did so, however I don't think he did it with regret. His father may have forgiven him like any parent would, however God will not forgive him unless he sincerely regrets and repents for his misdeeds. I just hope that he will not torture his father again.

You r giving impression as if he abandoned his wife and went after wealth or he knew that he is going to become PM or CM before abandoning. It was sheer hard work from him for several years before becoming CM. Unlike several other politicians born with golden spoon in mouth.

God has granted intellect to human beings. The intellect entails responsibility. The more intellect a person has, the more he/she is responsible.

When the intellect is missing, the responsibility is also not there. Little children are not held responsible, because their intellect has not yet developed. The insane are not responsible, because they have lost the intellectual capacity. However, part of our being human is also that we make mistakes. Sometime we make mistakes without deliberation and intention. But sometime we knowingly and deliberately sin and do wrong to others.

I appreciate Surathkal Police officials for upholding the humanity. This action proves that if our law enforcement is strict and stick to the works ethics India will be once again peaceful place for all.

I request Mr.Yogish Bhat to forgive his son and given on more chance for repentance. It is said: “To err is human and to forgive is divine.” Both parts of this statement are very true. As human beings we are responsible, but we do also make mistakes and we are constantly in need of forgiveness.

What a shameful act. I don't understand why father kept quiet for so long ( 8 years) unbelievable to know that such type of people exist who sacrifice their life for their offspring bearing the pain an agony of punishment. Suresh Bhat should be punished for his wrong doings so that other will learn out of it. He should not left just by giving warning by the police. in this case social media really helped and such matter has to be circulated in the media so that these type of harassment can be avoided and the guilty punished.

What police has done to the son, is all secret. Otherwise, how can a son, bow before the father and ask for forgiveness.

Without consciousness , our high intellect is very dangerous. in this case it doesn't even empathize his own father.
Animals don't have consciousness, but its small intellect works only for survival.
