Journalist thrashed by meat mafia goons during raid on illegal slaughterhouse

Daijiworld Media Network – Ramanagara (DC)

Ramanagara, Aug 9: In a shocking incident, a journalist who had gone to film the raid carried out by the animal activists and police officials on an illegal slaughterhouse was thrashed by the mob here on Tuesday, August 7.

The incident occurred at an illegal slaughterhouse at Kodipalya village in Ramanagara district. The raid was carried out based on credible information that over 200 new-born calves are slaughtered daily.

According to sources, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) had cited law and order situation and refused to give police protection to the animal activists to enter the slaughterhouse since there was no enough force available. He had confirmed to provide security on the next day of the raid. Two unarmed cops accompanied the animal activist Joshine Anthony and the India Today reporter on the first day of the raid.

Surprisingly, the animal activists, who had seen animals at the slaughterhouse few days ago, did not find any calves on the day of the raid giving rise to doubts that the information regarding raid was leaked and also confirmed nexus between the cops and meat mafia.

However, the missing new-born calves were found within the slaughterhouse premises hidden underneath low lying trees and inside dense bushes, with mouths being tied to their feet so that they would not make any noise. The officials rescued 71 calves from there.

When the India Today reporter who had been to the site to film the raid sought to know the locals' reaction, he was thrashed by them. The angry mob including meat mafia goons pelted stones at him and threatened him. His phone was also damaged during the melee. The entire incident was captured on camera and at the presence of police officials.

An FIR has been registered against Gazipeer, Khasi, Syed, Mubarakhan, Noor, Imthiaz and Tabrez from Ramanagara at Kudur police station under IPC sections 428 and 429 (mischief by killing or maiming animal).

No FIR was registered against the mob for attack on the journalist.

Best option would be that all the meat eaters to change their eating habits. Even non veg eaters need not be so cruel. Utter cruelty how these small animals are transported and treated before being killed. Animals also to be shown some dignity and comfort... Look at how small may be some months old tied. This is nothing but torture.

How can an illegal slaughterhouse operate openly? Before beef became a political subject since about 15-20 years ago, all these problems have started and are only getting worse. Slaughter of cows illegally continues, only innocent cattle farmers from the minority communities who are legally transporting cows are beaten up and lynched, the criminals are having a field day. The sale of cows illegally, their slaughter and sale of meat is controlled by powerful political lobbies across party lines. Kerala and North Eastern India are beef eating states and people there also breed cows, but one does not hear of cattle theft in those places. Can anyone answer why?

Beef exports have increased since Modi became the PM. We are today the leading beef exporter in the world. Beef is legally sold in Goa, NE , Kerala and most of the large companies exporting Beef are owned by Hindu businessmen.

Legalise this trade with more licences for slaughterhouses with government certification. When PM Modi's Gujarat from six decades can serve Indian breed beef to Israel 'Kosher' why the citizens of India deprived the rights for food as per the constitution of India?
When Haryana government can grant more and more licences for 'Beef trade' for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh members why Karnatka can't legalise this trade fill the supply and demand gap?

These animal activist become selective. In Goa and Delhi they work in parallel to Gau Rakshaks with government backing. In Goa alone more several instances beef traders gone on strike.

It seems animal activist and journalist have staged this on the behest of some political outfit. If they have the leads they should gone through the official channel. Law enforcement department for all including the animal rights activist.

Did anyone heard of this Animal Rights Activist visiting "Gaushala' to check the conditions all over India which resulted in many death including the recent one in Delhi?

How can you, these cattle are stolen. Might be butchery as per the law is illegal. But who has made it illegal. There are cattle owners want to be sell the cattle and there are buyers including butchery people to buy at the market place.
Those who are against cattle butchery, give the alternative to the cattle owners, the money equivalent to what butchery offers. Also those who eat meat, offer them the same price, other meat too.
This will be like Gujarath, prohibition existed but alchohol is freely available under the Sun. No body can stop human beings need.

Open more and more butchery areas, make eating beef (excluding cows meat) legal, automatically the cattle illegal business will come down. After all, including police, all are behind money.
