Mumbai: Billavara association Sangli president Narayana Poojary passes away

Mumbai, Aug 8: Billavara association Sangli founder and president Narayana T Poojary (70) passed away at his residence in Sangli on Monday, August 6 after suffering a massive heart attack.

Narayana Poojary hailed from Girija Sadan, Gutakadu, Kinnigoli of Dakshina Kannada district by origin. He served initially as a teacher at Krantiagrani G D Babu Lad Mahavidyalaya, Shirdhon, Kundral, before serving as its headmaster and its junior college principal and retired. He later became an hotelier.

He has left behind his wife Prema Poojary, son Chetan, daughter Dhanashree and a large number of friends and relatives.

Billavara association Sangli which lost its president has expressed immense grief. Association vice president Sudhaker S Poojary Nellikar, honorary secretary Raghurama Poojary, honorary treasurer Dinesh Poojary, women’s wing president Shakuntala S Poojary, executive committee and members offered their last respects and prayed for his soul. His mortal remains were sent to his home town. His last rites were held in his Kinnigoli residence on Tuesday evening.

National Billava Mahamandala president Jaya C Suvarna, Billavara association Mumbai president Chandrashekar S Poojary, former president L V Ameen, Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, Bharath bank directors Vasudeva R Kotian, advocate S B Ameen, CA Ashwajith Hejmady, Harish D Salian and several elite people expressed their condolences on his demise.
