Dubai: Vishwa Tulu Sammelana invites entries for group folk dance, singing competition

Dubai, Aug 8: ‘Vishwa Tulu Sammelana 2018’ (World Tulu convention) is scheduled to be organized in the city on November 23 and Padma Vibhushana awardee Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala has consented to be chief guest and inaugurate the programme which will be presided over by Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, patron of Tuluvas here.

The entire event will be arranged through a licensed event management company which will be carried on under licensed formalities.



Preparation for the programme is on in full swing and as part of the ongoing preparations, the committee will organise a group folk dance competition (Gumpu Janapada Nalike da Pantha) and group Janapada singing competition (Gumpu Janapada Gayana Pantha) exclusively for Tuluvas from countries all over the Gulf.

The eligibility and criteria with rules and regulations are as follows:

Eligibility: Anyone residing in the Gulf who is part of or connected to Tulunadu is eligible.

(A) Group folk dance competitions (Gumpu Janapada Nalike da Pantha)

Criteria:

1. Song for dance should be folk (Janapada) in Tulu and theme to be shared with the organisers
2. Time allotted for the performance is 6 to 8 minutes
3. Minimum of eight participants should be there in the team to form a group (open to all)
4. Theme should be a festive occasion. Performance should display a variety of Tulunadu festivals
5. Names of the participants and choreographer should be disclosed to the organisers
6. Stage should not be littered with party poppers, snow spray, thermacol balls etc
7. Lighting of fire lamps, use of water or any harmful materials on the stage is not permitted
8. Participants will get only 5 minutes before their performance to set-up their show
9. Participants need to hand over the stage within 5 minutes for the next performance
10. The team should remove all the props and materials from the stage within the allowed time
11. Points will be on theme, costume, synchronization, all ages’ participation and song selection
12. Theme should not be offensive and not hurt any religious or political sentiments

(B) Group Janapada Singing Competition (Gumpu Janapada Pada Panpina Pantha)

Criteria:

1. Song should be Janapada (folk) in Tulu.
2. Time allotted for the group song is 4 to 5 minutes
3. Synopsis of the song should be shared with the organizers
4. Minimum of 8 participants should be in a group (open to all)
5. Participants should be in traditional attire
6. Points will be on song selection, presentation and synchronization
7. Names of the participants and choreographer should be disclosed to the organisers
9. Participants need to hand over the stage within 5 minutes for the next performance

For both the above categories any number of entries is permitted from each of the GCC countries.

Tuluvas from all GCC countries who wish to participate and who are willing to abide by the above set rules and regulations can send in their entries well in advance to: vishwatulusammelanadubai@gmail.com with a copy to sarvo@eim.ae. Last date to submit entries is September 10.

Final names of registered entries for the competitions whose complete details are received before the last date as above, will be announced by September 30 to prepare themselves.
