Rajnath Singh to head ministerial panel on lynching; report to PM Modi

New Delhi, Jul 23 (DC): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will head a high level committee of group of ministers who will suggest laws against lynching and mob violence.

The high level committee will constitute four members and will be headed by Union Home secretary.

The high level committee will submit its recommendations to the Government within four weeks.

It will submit their recommendation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The move comes amid growing incidents of lynching and mob violence across India. The latest one to provoke widespread outrage was in Rajasthan's Alwar where a 28-year-old man was lynched over suspicion of cattle smuggling. The incidents have also fuelled sharp attacks by the opposition on the government in parliament.

The Supreme Court last week had urged the government to enact laws separate to those against murder to act as a deterrent against lynchings, following a series of attacks in which mobs have beaten people to death.

"We think it appropriate to recommend ... to parliament to create a separate offence for lynching and provide adequate punishment for the same... A special law in this field would instil a sense of fear," the court said in its judgment.

The court was hearing a petition filed by an activist to stop violence by vigilante groups, who are against the slaughter of cows.

"The horrendous acts of 'mobocracy' cannot be permitted to inundate the law of the land," the judgment said.

Modi and the BJP government were silent all these years on the victims of lynchings. They are pretending to take action now because news stories of lynchings are appearing in international newspapers. causing embarassment and damage to Brand India. Modi and the BJP are worried about the economic damage the lynchings will cause, they don't give a damn about all the people killed by BJP/RSS supporters.

Govt panel on mob lynching an eyewash, Gau Rakshaks embedded with BJP leaders. This is just an eyewash to divert attention from criticism Modi government is facing. Gau rakshas are embedded with BJP political masters who control police. In Junaid case, Haryana police has not yet found eyewitness to murder in railway station.

In PM Modi's India “COW is HOLY not a Human life,”. Independent data says that 371 cases of mob lynchings took place in the country over the last four years.

The minister of state (Home) Hansraj Ahir has said in Parliament that Centre does not have data related to cases of mob lynching, which is a blatant lie.
reported. ‘Dismantling India’ ,the report which presents a detailed account of four years of the Narendra Modi government, also comrpises cases of violence against Muslims, Dalits, Christians and tribal communities in a chronological order, with dates and the year too.According to the data, the country witnessed 371 cases of mob violence over the last four years, including 228 cases of violence against Muslims. The data is of cases till July 3, 2018. These cases have been taking place unabated even after that. A petition is being filed in Supreme Court regarding the recent lynching in Rajasthan, saying that the state government is guilty of contempt of the apex court of India. In last one year, about 30 cases of lynching took place in nine states of the country. Justice has not been served in any of these cases as yet. On the contrary, cases have been filed against the families of the deceased in 30% of such cases, while in 5% cases, no case has been registered against the attackers.

"I would not kill a human being for protection of a cow, as I will not kill a cow for saving a human life, be it ever so precious." Mahatma Gandhi. But BJP PM Modi government doing exactly opposite.

From US to Middle East 'lynching' has shamed India after 'women safety' ranking. But BJP minister garland the lynching accused.

Is this committee headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh is going to take any action against their own minister like Jayant Sinha who garlanded the lynching accused or BJP MP Nishikant Dubey who came out in support of providing legal expenses of four men who were accused of killing two suspected cattle-lifters in Jharkhand?

Will the party will reward the jobs to the accused of lynching Akhlaq in Bisada village of Uttar Pradesh’s Dadri in September 2015 govt contractual jobs with the PSU after being facilitated by a local MLA local BJP MLA Tejpal Singh Nagar?

The PM Modi's 'Sab ka saath, Sab ka vikas' government only woke up after Supreme Court agrees to hear contempt plea in Alwar lynching case. The court had condemned the mob lynching incidents and suggested enactment of a law in Parliament to deal with the crime that threatens rule of law and the country's social fabric."Horrendous acts of mobocracy" cannot be permitted to become "a new normal", it had said, while issuing a slew of guidelines, including preventive, remedial and punitive steps to deal with offences such as mob violence and cow vigilantism.A 28-year-old man was beaten to death by suspected cow vigilantes in Alwar district late on Friday.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, between 2014 -18, 45 people were killed in mob lynchings across nine states in India. In the latest example, a group of villagers beat to death 28-year-old Akbar Khan in Rajasthan's Alwar district, an incident that came to light just five days after the Supreme Court urged the Centre to frame a law to curb lynchings.

India must be careful not to follow the example of the US, which witnessed lynchings of minority blacks until the 1960s. Toll climbs, but BJP dilly-dallies with MaSuKa even as India lacks specific law to deal such crimes MaSuKa law is tailor-made to ensure speedy justice, rehabilitation and compensation for victim’s families and witness protection is the only solution.

The meeting is all drama, if at all they are serious to curb the lynching, let them sack the minister who facilitated the culprits by garlanding, in order to send a strong message that lynching is not tolerated .
Secondly PM should tweet that the lynching of people is not tolerated, and instruct all the states to take strict action against the policemen who support and do not act on time.
    This is sufficient.

While your own BJP MP Arjun Meghwal said all these lynching incidents are to defame Modi then what is the meaning of forming a high level committee group of ministers for suggestions on formulating a law against lynching and mob violence. Is BJP ready to take its own minister to task????
This s like asking Pakistan to destroy all terrorists and thier camps in its territory and Pakistan responds by saying there are no terrorists and terror camps in our country but if someone knows and leads us there we will take action.
