Mangaluru: Bike-car accident at Yeyyadi, three seriously injured

Mangaluru, Jul 23: Three persons were seriously injured after a bike rammed into a Maruti 800 car at Yeyyadi on Monday, July 23.

The injured persons have been identified as Suresh Bhandary (55), Rekha Daya Bhandary (35) and Moosa Mukkacheri, Ullal, a diploma student of KPT.

As per eyewitness, Moosa lost control of his bike while overtaking a tipper lorry and hit the car which heading from KPT and taking a turn into the road leading to Shaktinagar.



The bike and the windshield and door of the car were damaged due to impact of the collision causing severe injuries to Rekha Daya Bhandary. Moosa too suffered major injuries to his back and legs. As he was wearing a helmet, he was saved from receiving severe head injuries. Locals present at the spot rushed him to AJ hospital.

Angry locals blamed the administration for not installing speed breakers on the Airport road. They also warned that if the concerned department fail to install speed breakers within a week, they would stop the passage of VIP vehicles on the route.

    Evans Christopher Sumitra, New York, USA: Speeding is the main cause of accidents. It is the concrete road and you call it as a bad road. Something wrong with your eyesight. It is driving habit of he people causes accidents. I too drive a Two Wheeler and a Four Wheeler. It is nightmare to drive in the Mangalore City Roads when there are Rash Drivers both private as well as City buses. EVEN GOD or the LUCIFER COMES FROM ABOVE, they will be beyond redemption. God and Lucifer seeing these people and Mangalore will run away from here. Jai Hind

    Its not the question what machine you ride....the question is who rides it, in what condition and RTO must consider how to conduct the road test prior issuing a license to drive.

    I feel disappointed to see the traffic dept. over looking the way the bikers ride. Most of them do not follow the track and even a six inch gap will be enough for them to overtake the four wheelereven on the wrong side.

    Speed breakers will not make any difference unless the bikers follow the track.

    To add to the above the bike manufacurers/ sellers only glorify rash riding without realizing they add to the misery of the biker in the event of an accident.

    Why speed governor only for commercial vehicle???? Rule should apply to private vehicles including two wheeler too...

    You can't. Speed governor's are installed only on commercial vehicles all over the world for a specific reason as it's mass carrying vehicle which may go out of control on any situation & may risk lives of several. No speed speed governor's are installed on cars & bikes in any part of world..reasons are many.... if you think about this is in right direction you have your own answer... Cars & bikes speed are electronically limited at certain RPM.

    It is rash driving....
    There are many two wheeler in Mangalore driving on the roads with Learning License....
    Some two wheeler even overtaking in the wrong side (hard shoulder driving)....
    Some two and three wheeler are entering no entry area (Particularly near St. Agnes Junction in-front of Vas Bakery)....
    Most of two and three wheeler are taking U-turn at Karavali Circle in front of the traffic police where U-turn restricted....
    There is no discipline at Mallikatta Round About. Two Wheeler, Three Wheeler and even City Buses drivers are not bothered about taking round to the circle.....

    Whatver it is, the way the young bikers today ride, its a nightmare driving in and around Mangalore. While driving to Mangalore from Moodbidri today I had two near misses with bikes both were overtaking in hair pin curves. I too ride a bike or scooty but my speed never crosses 45. Its the right time to make DL tests more strict and more awareness creation among riders.
