Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jul 23: The unnatural death case of Shiroor Swamiji is taking new twist every day. Though the police are saying that no one is taken into custody, the investigation is being conducted in a brisk pace.

According to sources an auto rickshaw driver, who is said to be a close aide of late Shiroor Swamiji, was taken to the flat at Kinnigoli of the lady, who is also said to be a close associate of the late Swamiji. Police were also conducting inquiry by visiting the homes which are in close vicinity of the Shiroor Math. They are also taking statements from the residents of the area in order to know the daily activities of the Math.

Kemaru Swamiji had said on Saturday, July 21, that Rs 10 crore was to be recovered from entrepreneurs of Mumbai origin. The late Shiroor Swamiji had taken a bank loan in order to build Kanaka Mall. Due to certain reasons, Swamiji had to pay the instalments of the same. Recently Shiroor Swamiji had decided to sell the same to an entrepreneur from Mumbai. It is said the deal was done for Rs 15 crore and it was agreed that Rs 10 crore to be paid to the late Swamiji and rest to be paid to the bank. This information is available through some sources. The superintendent of police (SP) of Udupi is not divulging more information in order to maintain the secrecy of the investigation.

Energy drink confiscated

Sources have said that the police have confiscated the energy drink bottle that was found in the Shiroor Math on Sunday, July 22. This bottle is half full. It is said that the late Swamiji used to drink this energy drink constantly.

It is also learnt that the lady, who was subjected to investigation, got introduced to Swamiji through the auto driver and she became very close to Swamiji within a short time and used to bring food for him and also look after the administrative activities of the Math.

Temporary post-mortem report to be available in two days

In the post-mortem report, generally two reports are made. One is temporary and the other is final report. The forensic report is sent separately. The doctors are preparing the post-mortem report and there is a possibility that the temporary report will be available in another two day's time. It may take two weeks for the final post-mortem report as well as the report from the forensic laboratory.

Ravikiran Murdeshwar, the lawyer who is representing Shiroor Swamiji, has told the media that he has not filed a case as the SP has told him that the case can be filed once the post-mortem report is available.

Caveat filed by late Swamiji becomes null and void

The caveat filed by late Shiroor Swamiji on the seers of other Ashta Maths, excluding Puttige seer, in the issue of returning of the presiding deity of Shiroor Math, has become null and void due to his sudden death. It was said in the caveat, which has a validity of 90 days that no one should speak against the Shiroor Swamiji and the Shiroor Math during this period and also should not pressurize to take disciple to succeed Shiroor Swamiji.

Shiroor Swamiji had said that he will file criminal case on the other seers if they do not return the presiding deity of Shiroor Math to him. He had asked his lawyer Ravikiran Murdeshwar to come to his Math on Wednesday, July 18, to file a criminal case on Palimar Math seer as the presiding deity of the Shiroor Math was at Krishna Math. However, on the same day he had taken ill and left for heavenly abode on Thursday.

Guys, please don't generalize this as a 'Hindu' issue. Hinduism as you all know by now is a 'way of life'. There isn't one pontiff or representative for all the Hindu's in India. This is a Shiroor Mutt issue that they need to deal with.
These are swami's and not 'god men'. They don't claim exclusive right to 'Dharma' or what is generally called westernized concept of 'God' / 'ultimate'.
These swami's need to clean up their act for sure. They have the same needs such as making money, investing and perhaps carnal desires which by rule they are Brahamachari's ??.
I as a hindu don't prescribe to this Mutt business and I do the same for any religion in the world. I don't buy the concept of 'man in the sky' who will take care of me once I am dead ??

I do not agree with you. What a God man suppose to do for his livelihood. Each and every person need money to take care of his/her basic needs, and he/she has to do something, (job or business) for this purpose. Instead of depending on others for his basic needs, one has to have some income besides his religious duties.
Those days are not far when we will have Yogi/ seer law makers, if we continue to vote BJP

At the backyard of every houses, there will be garbage piled up and one should clear and clean the garbage of one's own house. Do not create big news, when your neighbours backyard is filled with garbage when our own houses are piled up with stinking filthy garbage.

Day by day these types of incidents growing. In order to control or not to recur again there is only one solution .. government should make mandatory or compulsory for all Swamijis to. Enter into wedlock or marriage. Same should be applicable to women Swamiji of any religion inorder to avoid them in becoming cycle in future. This is my advice and if anyone disagrees here I don’t care.!!
