Bengaluru, Jul 22: Congress leaders have given clear instructions to their office bearers to come together to unitedly fight against Hindutva agenda of BJP during the Lok Sabha election.

Speaking at the meeting of party office bearers held here on Saturday July 21, leaders urged the party functionaries not to lose heart by the assembly election debacle, and to make preparations for the Lok Sabha election in an effective manner.

"Our Congress government had implemented a number of popular schemes for the benefit of the general public during it five-year term. But our party had to face reverses because of BJP's false propaganda against us and agenda of fake Hindutva," said former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, expressing his frustration. He said that his own party men had clearly listed out the failures of Narendra Modi-led union government and educated the people about them. Siddaramaiah reasoned that this did not hold water because of emotional issues coined by BJP. He stressed that this will not repeat in Lok Sabha election.

At the meeting, various office bearers brought pressure on the top leadership not to accommodate only legislators when choosing chairpersons for boards and corporations. It is learnt that at their insistence, they were promised that other party workers will also be given an opportunity.

Congress party's in-charge of Karnataka affairs, K C Venugopal, told the office bearers in no uncertain terms that whatever grievances or objections they may be having about the coalition government should be aired and discussed only in the party forums, duly warning that issuing public statements would be viewed seriously by the party.
