Mangaluru, Jul 22: A 55-year-old man was run over by a lorry after a car hit his scooter throwing him on the road near Jeppinamogaru on Sunday, July 22.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna, a resident of Derebail. He was working at a lab in Fisheries College, Yekkur.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Krishna was returning home. He had been to Thokkottu for a personal work. While he was on the way, a car hit his scooter in the rear due to which he was thrown on the middle of the road.

A lorry ran over Krishna killing him on the spot. Though he was wearing a helmet, the container lorry damaged the helmet completely.

Mangaluru traffic police registered a case.

    Really felt sad... We were on the way back to home.. To be Frank KL registered cars are driven like a mad... Just because they have single road after thalapady.. Once they cross thalapady towards Mangalore they will drive like a mad.. Even I have experienced many times... Not all KL registered but Many...

    Jappina Mogeru Junction has more vehicals then Kuntikan junction ,Kottara Junction and KPT Junction...and extremely dangerous...But still no idea or plannings for FLYOVER there....Irony...

    Here is another case of an accident. Obviously the driver of the lorry was not able to control the speed of his vehicle. Police will no doubt investigate into the case and take appropriate action.

    My sympathies to the bereaved members of the deceased.

    Very sad even after wearing helmet killed. The road must be very bad like the road near the Kulur bridge. The road near the port is also very bad. The roads are very bad, there should be separate lanes for two wheelers, cars, heavy vehicle etc. May his soul RIP and heartfelt sympathies to the family.
