Mangaluru, Jul 22: Zameer Ahmed Khan, minister for state Hajj and Wakf flagged off the first Haj pilgrimage of this year from Mangaluru at Ansar School Bajpe on Saturday, July 21.

Handing over the documents to pilgrims the minister said “Haj pilgrimage is one of the holy things which should be done by believers of Islam. The pilgrimage is taken based on the message of peace and dedication towards the Almighty. This dedication helps the pilgrims to spread positivity with their neighbours and society. So it is my suggestion to every pilgrim and their families to spread the message of peace in society. I also request all pilgrims to remember our nation and state in your prayers,”

“Every Muslim wants to do Hajj pilgrimage but when financial matter comes, one has to forego it. People, who have money, are doing this pilgrimage privately. Understanding the importance of Hajj pilgrimage and the cost involved, our government is helping the community with subsidy. As a secular country like India only we can get such facilities. So we should always pray for our country and its people,” said U T Khader minister of urban development and housing.

P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, Khazi of Udupi District led the prayer ceremony.

Mangaluru Hajj coordination committee president Y Mohammad Kunhi, MLC B M Farooq, former MLA Moideen Bava and district Wakf committee member Kanachur Monu and others were present among others.

Three charter flights having capacity to carry 146 pilgrims each from Mangaluru embarkation point are scheduled to depart from July 21 till July 23. The pilgrims are proceeding to Madina from Mangaluru and will return from Jeddah after Haj Pilgrimage.

Pilgrims from Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, Hassan and Chikkamagaluru districts are boarding flight from the Mangaluru embarkation point.

Congress has to ponder over many things and setright many issues. I feel loss of congress another 10 years is confirmed. BJP create all nonsense similar like congress within 10 years and all Hindus too will get upset of BJP by that time. Karlmarx theory holds good for the Indian political scenario.

As a tax-payer I would like to see my tax-money go into creation of better infrastructure and facilities which can be used for the common good of ALL honest hard-working citizens(including myself),who do not steal from or cheat others.

I want the elected govt. to spend my tax money judiciously on efficient , time-bound and courteous services from the police, administration, judiciary and the legislative arms themselves. We are not asking the govt. and its machinery for favours. They are paid to do a job hence they must stop all the chicanery they indulge in .

Currently all govt. services are poorly run, poorly managed, poorly equipped, under- staffed, non-transparent and unaccountable.

Economic subsidies should only be given to economically backward citizens and then too only for a pre-set period of time within which the able-bodied citizen should be given the opportunity to “stand on his/her own 2 feet”.

The provision of subsidies or state-care to those who are not able-bodied or feeble or ill(from among the economically backward) is quite a different matter and it is the duty of the state to do so; but the state does not perform this duty, the state gives such people only Rs.500 -1500 or so a MONTH!

So it should be clear to all decent people that the only thing that interests bad-politicians is their vote-for-notes vote-banks and the crores and crores they can make out of fooling the ignorant citizen!

When Haj subsidy stands abolished across India why is the state government providing subsidy now? State government increased taxes in the budget and is now funding Hajj

Politicians who want to fund their vote-banks must do so from their own bank accounts(using their white money and not their black ill-earned money).
Secularism means non-interference by State in religion and its practices.
All sorts of govt. interference, subsidies, participation, &c. in all forms of religions and their rituals must be stopped. That is secularism!
All those who want to follow some religion and its rituals are free to do so in a secular state but they have to do so using money raised by themselves, in their own private way(no public shows) and without causing any sort of trouble/nuisance/botheration/obstruction to those who do not wish to participate in those rituals.
Oh ! you can’t get to heaven using money “handed-out” by bad-politicians from taxes paid by the hard-working citizen who has earned every bit of it by the sweat of his/her brow!

it does not matter who has done it. It still remains wrong and appeasement politics. When everyone stops voting party over appeasement, India will be a truly secular democracy.

If this is a government funded tour then it is not a fair practice for the Govt. to use tax payers money in a biased manner for benefit of one particular community just because the community is a vote bank. For most of the political parties vote bank seems to be the only objective apart from indirect objective of making money. Social service has no place in politics which was the actual objective than vote bank and money.

This situation is similar to students studying with sole objective of scoring marks in order to gain jobs and in turn money. Gaining knowledge has no place in education which was the actual objective than scoring marks and making money.

What we sow we reap isnt it. We learnt this in our school.

Hajj is not govt funded tour for your info..

Govt used to give certain subsidy before (benefit for travel agents) but now it has been removed and non of the Muslim oppose this decision since Hajj should be performed from their own money and Hajj is compulsory only for those who can offered it..

By the way please check the funding from govt for pilgrimage or religious places (1,2,3.........) before and at present..

Pls disprove with facts ( that can be cross-checked) the below statement(as reported in this news report) by the minister:
“.......................... People, who have money, are doing this pilgrimage privately. ..........................., our government is helping the community with subsidy. As a secular country like India only we can get such facilities. .........,” said U T Khader minister of urban development and housing.
