Bengaluru: Yeddy appreciates PM Modi’s 'One nation, one election' concept

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jul 21:“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘One nation, one election’ is a good concept. But it is a challenge to implement, especially as Lok Sabha polls will have to be held next year,” opined leader of opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, July 21, Yeddyurappa expressed his support to the concept and said all states must accept it.

When questioned about chief minister HD Kumaraswamy seeking one month time to sort the issues with regard to farm loan waiver, Yeddyurappa said he does not mind waiting for the CM to implement the same. “However, the CM is answerable to the people of the state. How is he planning to repay the loans to the nationalized and cooperative banks? The people want to know,” he said.

This guy is a spent force! During hey days too he was known for irregularities and became a jailbird. Its high time he enjoys retired life since he will not be a mass leader again. I wish a person like SMK at his peak (he is too old now....was too good at his peak) leads the state...who has courage to make the city garbage free and organised development!

Yes, Indira Gandhi went to jail but unlike B S Yeddyurappa she did not go to jail for accepting bribes. Yeddyurappa, Katta Subramanya Naidu, Gali Janardhana Reddy went to jail for corruption.

With 'One Nation, One Election', the Bugle for a 'Hindu Rashtra' Has Been Publicly Sounded.
In a federal democracy, the administrative convenience of the Union or the Election Commission cannot dictate the political processes of a state.
Disguised as election reform, the ‘one nation one election’ proposal has little respect for the fact that in a federal democracy, once the respective domains of each unit of democracy – small or big – have been constitutionally demarcated and defined, that unit functions autonomously within that domain. Its interests, its priorities, its mores and conventions are its own and are not subordinate to that of the Union, except where the constitution itself so mandates. The term of the legislative assembly of a state has nothing to do with the term of the Lok Sabha and depends primarily on the way electoral politics plays out within that state. It may happen to coincide with the term of the Lok Sabha, as it did for many years after independence but it may not, however ‘inconvenient’ that may be. In a federal democracy, the administrative convenience of the Union or the Election Commission cannot dictate the political processes of a state. Period.

Constitutional principles of collective responsibility and legislative oversight of the executive cannot be sacrificed at the altar of efficiency and stability. It is not possible to privilege convenience over constitutional guarantees.

One nation one election idea is a farce.Rather than getting overpowered by the political class, the Election Commission of India should try to fiercely protect its functional autonomy and help people to participate truly in the electoral process thereby upholding the mandate of India’s constitution.

One nation, One election is the copy Hitler's propaganda slogan: Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer ('One People, One Nation, One Leader'). RSS Guruji's who once greatly praised the Nazi Hitler in the 'Bunch of thought'.
