Mangaluru: Sea erosion acquires alarming proportions at Killeria, Ullal

Mangaluru, Jul 20: Sea erosion has worsened in Killeria Nagar area of Ullal. Three houses here have already been washed away by strong waves. Many other houses are now facing danger from the sea, giving rise to a sense of alarm among the people living there.

Houses of Kannur Hameed, Abdul Khader and another person at Killeria had been washed away by giant waves. Over 80 more houses are now facing peril.

Huge waves have been lashing at the seashore and water has entered the houses of several people, throwing normal life out of gear. A number of houses are facing imminent danger. Huge waves have been forcing water into the houses located near the shore, posing danger to their existence.

City municipal council member Muhammed Mukkacheri, has asked revenue officials to conduct inspection about losses suffered and make arrangment for immediate disbursal of compensation to the concerned.

    So what are we doing about it. Already we know quarry run and breakwater procedures. Why not use acropodes and build sea walls?! No?
