Udupi, Jul 19: The mortal remains of Shiroor Math chief Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji were brought to Shiroor Math in Rathabeedi soon after the post mortem procedure was completed.
The mortal remains of the 54-year-old swamiji were kept for public condolences near Shiroor Math before being taken near the premises of Sri Krishna Math.
Earlier, the mortal remains of Swamiji were taken to Udupi from KMC hospital in an open jeep. The body was taken on procession amid tight police security. Hundreds of followers, devotees and Udupi CMC officials were present during the procession.
SP Laxman Nimbargi looked after the security arrangements at the Hiriyadka Harikandige Moola Math. Only a few close ones to the late swamiji were allowed to enter the premises of the Moola Math.
As he desired, the mortal remains of the swamiji was bathed at the Math’s ‘Swarna Nadi’ before being buried in a sitting position at the Moola Math.
Esha Vittala Dasa Swamiji of Kemaru Math, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Manohar Shetty, promoter of Sai Radha developers Udupi and others took part in the funeral.
