Mangaluru and Udupi bishops condole death of Shiroor Swamiji

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 19: Bishop of Mangaluru, Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza and Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo have expressed their condolences on the sad demise of Shiroor Math chief Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji.

“The swamiji who had become popular as the ‘swamy of common people’ had contributed to the development of the society through several pro society activities during his paryaya. He had developed excellent rapport with all the communities and worked hard for social harmony,” stated Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, public relations officer of the diocese in a press release.

Mangaluru bishop-elect Dr Peter Paul Saldanha too has expressed his condolences. 

Sri Laxmivarateertha Swamiji passed away on the Thursday, July 19. He was 54.
