PM Modi slams Congress over lack of electrification

New Delhi, Jul 19 (TOI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday slammed the Congress for not keep its promises on rural electrification during all the years it was in government. "It has been 70 years since we attained Independence, but 18,000 villages did not have electricity connections. This was quite unfortunate," said Modi in an address to people from villages across India that have been recently electrified.

While talking via video conference to a resident of Leisang village in Manipur, he asked one of the if he asked if the person now has a TV. Leisang was the last among the 18,000 villages electrified. The resident replied saying that now they have a TV too. "So, then you must have watched the recent (World Cup) football events. I know the people of Manipur love football," joked the PM, as the resident nodded in the affirmative. PM Modi also said that he keeps his promises. "From the ramparts of the Red Fort I announced that every village will be electrified. We walked the talk and went to every village. We not only focussed on electrification but also reformed the distribution systems across the country," he said. This, he said, is in stark contrast to the Congress party, which, he said, never keeps its promises. "In 2005, the then Government promised to electrify every village by 2009. The then President of the ruling party went a step ahead and said we will bring electricity to every home. Needless to say, none of that happened during their long tenure," said PM Modi.

During the interaction, people from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh told the PM the different ways in which having electricity has been positive for them.

"Now that we have electricity, we can watch TV. We can also purchase heaters and our children can study better," said one Tawang resident.

People from Tripura also expressed their happiness.

"The coming of electricity made our children particularly happy. We could buy fans as well, which help us during the summers," said people from Tripura's Dhalai village.

People still remember that before the last General Elections, Modi was talking loud about Corruption of the Congress.

He is totally Silent on Corruption Guess why ?. He talked about Gujarat Model. This has been given a silent burial.

After four years if he still wants to target the Congress and keem Mum on his achievements the people have already seen through his rhetoric and false promises.

If Congress had done everything what you would have left to do Modiji?

Development is a ongoing process and it has never a end to it. When something completes a new challenge arises.

Besides don't say 70 years all the time. Do not forget there was a BJP Government earlier too that was for 6 years and yours of 5 years now that is 11 years in total.

He said 70 years of Independence and not 70 years of khangress rule. Pl read the news correctly before commenting
He said khangress promised in 2005 that they will fulfill by 2009 but even till 2014 they could not.
But you expect everything in just 5 years of MODI. That is the confidence ppl have in MODI
Wait another decade India will be Super Power under the leadership of MODI

Modiji is taking credit of all the projects of UPA and Congress govt.

Adhar card was UPA project. Before 2014, he spoke against Adhar card even in election rally and after came to power, he started to support Adhar card. This shows BJP and Modiji are bankrupt in new projects and only Jumbla talk.

Why wait for another decade? Tomorrow if he says 'Bhakthoon, we are superpower now', all bhakths will echo in unison 'Yes, we are superpower now' and life in fools' paradise will ensue.

    KUDOS TO SREEMAN NARENDRA MODIJI.

HE DID EVERYTHING IN JUST 4 YEARS WHAT DONGIS COULD NOT DO IN LAST 70 YEARS.

THE REASON IS, HE IS A REAL DESH BHAKT, VISIONARY, REFORMIST, PATRIOTIC HINDU LEADER.

FIRST TIME RAMARAJYA HAS COME AFTER TRETA YUGA. JAI SREE RAM.

    Nagesh Nayak,

Did you read Rapes , Molestation, Gang rape & Murder, Sodomy , Lynching in Treta Yuga.

Even though Dshkanata Raawana abducted Sita , her " Rigid Pathivratha and Unquestionable Love " to her husband Lord Rama saved her from evil desire of Raawana.

You can compare King Raawana ( a Brahmin by birth ) with today's most third grade Politicians of India who's thinking " Para Sthree " as " Apna Sthree " for their Sex desire / Lust .

Don't foolishly compare today's world with Raama Rajya
