Bantwal: Unscientific flyover at B C Road to be removed soon

Bantwal, Jul 18: The unscientific flyover at the heart of B C Road will be demolished following Bharath Mala project getting approval.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Bharath Mala project has been completed and the report has been sent to Nitin Gadkari, union minister for road transport and highways.

Mangaluru-BC Road route will be developed as six lane express corridor and the unscientific flyover will be removed, confirmed engineer Ajith during NHAI meeting held at MLA's office at B C Road.

He also added that the DPR for Mulky-B C Road, Melkar-Thokkottu national highway has also been completed.

The move comes as a relief for the commuters travelling through the one-way flyover.

    Unscientific...for what? B C Road is a predominantly old heritage area. To maintain some semblance, the bridge was specifically built because of the bottle-neck created below in the already congested B C Road Bus Stop on the West and the Town Police Station, Banks, Registration Office and the other already existing structures on the East creating a severe jam. Infact this junction was already sandwiched several years ago before this bridge came up. I understand that the shifting of the B C Road Bus Stop was given a spacious area next to the Collector's Bungalow (behind the railway bridge) on the by pass road..but that unfortunately was given priority to the Taluka Office. Hence the problem. Infact, a proper allocation for the existing B C Road Bus Stop is still pending due to paucity (shortage) of a proper space. Even the newly built KSRTC terminal next to Somaya House too is congested. One can imagine that unless all structures on either sides are not cleared, the problem will still linger on. By the time the expressway (6 lane starts) it would be too much a delay.

    How the design of this flyover was approved ? if it was not scientific . then at design stage itself all future problems are anticipated and solutions are designed .

    May be person just passed in engineering cause of reservation may have designed it .
    The consultancy firm as well as NH department officials should be put behind the bars for wasting the public money

    1)The block in Pumpwell will continue even after the flyover is completed.
    Need another flyover from bc road side to kankanady side.

    2) Even in Nanthoor one flyover is useless....reqr one on nh 66. Another from kadri side to bikarnakatte side.

    3) wen u can const flyover at kuntikan junction.....count the number of vehicals crossing the Jappina Moger dangerous junction in nethravathi bridge...no.of vehicales are atleast 5 times more than the Kuntikan junction.

    Very easy to blame politicians- whether Congress or BJP -after all they all are part of Mangalore-and one can safely say most politicians with exception of a select few are just plain SMOOTH TALKERS -doing nothing during their tenure.The engineers, bureaucrats can refuse- but do they have the courage or honesty or knowledge of what a poorly , unsightly flyover means? It means no one wants to look at your city.People want to make their home beautiful-it also includes surroundings-roads, parks , flyovers open spaces. End up making the city looking like a GREAT BIG ZOPADPATTI.

    Fly over at Surathkal is also not scientific. Even under construction Pumpwell ( Mahavir circle ) flyover will cause problem to heavy vehicles like trailers in future. Only Swahaa no concern for common people.

    If this bridge is built in unscientific way, why the consultants were paid. Who is the consultant...!!!!??? Their name has to be published in open. Building and even demolishing will fill the pockets of the public servants. But the difficulty is only for the public.

    Only B C road flyover?? Even Kottara Chowki, Kulur and Surathkal flyovers are identical siblings of the B C road flyover... 3 lanes one way and 1 overcrowded narrow underpass lane for the other way. Neither is the planning scientific nor is it logical.

    Scientist's are doing science experiments to find out if the structures at pumpwell and thokkottu junction are scientific or not.

    Of Course it is unscientific as it is western design which is anti Indian. It was designed as per pure ancient Indian scientific technology. It's planned and designed by our great Tantriks graduated from our Nagpur university who studied the invention of ancient India formula for rockets. Puskpak Vimans who invented digit Zero and who where inventors of Internet, social media, journalism and satellite communications in ancient india.
