Bengaluru: Pestering for cash, valuables by wife and her parents - man files case

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 17: We keep hearing about dowry cases being slapped against the groom or his family members for demanding payment of valuables including ornaments, vehicles, cash etc, every day. However, in a unique case which happened in the city, a man has filed case against his wife and her parents for demanding valuables which are beyond his reach.

The man has named his wife and her father for pestering him for high amounts of money. Dheeraj Reddy, a native of Andhra Pradesh, stated in a complaint he filed in Mahadevapura police station here that his wife had demanded to provide her a golden girdle studded with diamond costing around Rs 30 lac.

Both Dheeraj and his wife, Jayashruti, are software engineers by profession. Although they have good income, Jayashruti, it is alleged, is enticed by cash and ornaments. It is said she has been pressurizing her husband to not only hand over his salary to her, but also pestered him to buy costly ornaments for her. He says that he also is tortured by his wife in pursuance of this demand.

The two had married in 2014. Last year, Jayashruti is said to have asked Dheeral to buy a girdle worth Rs 30 lac for herself and threatened him of ending her life if this demand was not met. Dheeraj further says that she also had urged him to provide ornaments worth Rs 40 lac for conducting her sister's marriage. He claims that he had taken up this matter with his in-laws, but they instead of giving sane advice to their daughter, threatened him to transfer all his property in the name of his wife.

Frustrated by all these developments, Dheeraj has filed complaint against his wife and in-laws. The police are now investigating this complaint.

Dheeraj, its shocking. You should have straightaway gone for divorce. Its not worth living with a person who loves the jewelery and not you. Now that you have lodged the complain at the police station, may you get justice. In any way, its not worth living with her if at all what you say is true.

Life is short. Its worth living happily with what we have. We do not carry in our coffin gold and silver. But the good deeds we have done during our life on this earth.

Hard to believe. And he files case.Instead of filing case he should have threatened her of divorce ,if she dont stop urging for jewellary.what can a case in court bring.?She must have gone mad, jewellary doesnt bring peace where no love to husband is.He must simply keep quite and dont respond to her demands.Otherwise day by day demands will be increasing.when she doesnt get anything ,will be quite after wards. She too is earning so let her get with her pay.

I like your comment. But, this woman is not Jasodaben. This woman will not keep quiet, if abandoned. She knows to load the gun, take aim and pull the trigger. She will squeeze him from all sides in order to get as much as possible, before saying goodbye. Eleanor Roosevelt said "Woman is like a tea bag. You do not know how strong she is, until she gets into hot water."
