Bengaluru: Government announces stringent measures against drugs menace

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 17: Deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwar, who also happens to be the state home minister, said that the state government has decided to crack down on the drugs cartel in the city and elsewhere in the state which has been threatening to grow into a major challenge. He asked senior police officers to draft a proper action plan including the formation of anti drugs squad and other measures.

The proposed action plan would include specific plans to stop ganja from being grown in the state and sealing influx of the drug from neighbouring states. Totally regulating their sale near schools and colleges in the state and stopping young students from falling prey to drugs will also be one of the major aims of the plan. It should provide pans to spread social awareness about the drugs, duly drawing support from non-government organizations and departmental officials, the minister explained.

Parameshwar noted that cooperation of departments like education, excise etc would be required to effectively curtail the problem of drugs. In his meeting with officials of connected departments, he stated that the government is determined to crush the drugs cartel and therefore wanted the action plan to be complete, far-sighted and integrated.

Towards this end, the minister came up with the suggestion that the anti drugs unit functioning under criminal investigation department should be strengthened by infusing more personnel and improving quality of their training. He also wanted anti drug units working in every police station to be more proactive in discharging their duties. He also wanted the police concerned to be held responsible if drugs trade proliferates under their jurisdiction, and to post strict officers to control the drug trafficking in such places.

It is not going to be an easy battle.

The official statistics in Punjab mention that over 70% of the population consumes drugs.

It is world-wide phenomenon that the drug cartels can buy the law-enforcement agencies and politicians.

Hopefully the Karnataka Government succeeds in this battle.

When it comes to drugs I request DCM Parmeshwar to follow the rule of Philippines President Dutterest. He even didn't forgive the top cartel of the gangs.

Today his nation which is falling toward Maxico of the East is under fully controlled. If Karnataka don't act know we will be in the same situation of Punjab under BJP-SAD rule.

Please follow the 'zero tolerance' when it comes to the drug. This is one of the biggest threat for our nation after terrorism.

To all concerned :it would be better if an indulgent view is given to the stay of students pursuing education in paying guest accommodation and in apartments without any supervision and parental guidance.it is a fact that the students staying in such accommodations are easily attracted to substance abuse and are habituated in using their freedom to involve in trying out new ways to enjoy.in the so called education hubs where professional colleges exist students somehow pester the parents citing reasons of food problems etc. and stay in accommodations especially apartments.these places are not under surveillance as in case of hostels were discipline and such activities are easily traced.it is opined that if the law enforcers keep a tab on students staying in rented accommodations or in PG accommodations lot of such illegal happenings can be controlled.educational institutions should be responsible to accommodate students in the hostel with proper watch and care

    Dear Parameshwara,

Your government should catch drug producers & suppliers not the pedlars.

ONCE DRUG PRODUCERS AND SUPPLIERS ARE CAUGHT, HOW COME THE SELLERS EXIST.

AS FAR AS I KNOW THE GOVERNMENT, THE POLICE AND THE DRUG SUPPLIERS ARE ALL HAVES HAND IN GLOVES/INVOLVED TO GET SHORT CUT MONEY.

ANYWAY STEPS FORWARD IS GOOD ENOUGH TO CONTROL DRUG PRODUCERS AND DRUG MAFIAS.
