New Delhi: Arun Jaitley targets Congress over Kumaraswamy breaking down

New Delhi, Jul 16 (IANS): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday targeted the Congress over Karnataka Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy breaking down at a public event, saying the party believed that "only members of one family can rule India" and that others should be pushed to weeping publicly.

Jaitley's remark came in a facebook post: "Is the Karnataka a preview of what the Congress and the Federal Front promise for the future?" Jaitley said the country is keenly watching Karnataka where the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular joined hands post-elections to form a government in May.

"It is a repeat of what the Congress did to Chaudhary Charan Singh, Chandra Shekhar, H.D. Deve Gowda and I.K. Gujral. It is the obvious consequence of a non-ideological opportunistic alliance (working) with no positive agenda. The basis of the negative agenda is 'keep Modi out'," Jaitley said.

Kumaraswamy breaking down

He said people had, in the last few days, seen Kumaraswamy pouring out his emotions with tears, declining to accept bouquets and garlands.

Kumaraswamy broke down at a public event on Saturday stating that he was "not happy" holding the top post and that he was swallowing the pain like 'Vishakantha' (Lord Shiva), who drank poison.

Jailtley said non-ideological opportunistic coalitions always get trapped within their own contradictions and their only objective remains survival and not service of the nation.

"Their longevity is suspect. If a Prime Minister of such a coalition has to weep before cameras with a wish to exit from office, it will be a scenario worse than the policy paralysis of UPA II. The Congress firmly believes that only members of one family can rule India. If anybody else gets a chance, he should be pushed to the desperation of throwing his hands up and weeping publicly," he said.

Jaitley said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly demonstrated the advantages of a decisive leadership.

"India's Prime Minister and his government have to overcome the challenges that India faces today. He cannot be seen like the Chief Minister of Karnataka as a tragedy king. If such a coalition is a cup of poison, why even dream of inflicting it on the nation?" he said.

Jaitley cited parts of Kumarswamy's speech and said it reminded him of tragedy-era Hindi films.

He said India needs a sustained high-trajectory growth, cohesive government and a decisive political leadership to face global challenges, including terrorism.

The minister said the country needs a government which is able to resist unfair pressures of allies and regions.

"If fighting terror has to be compromised because of vote-bank pressures of allies, then such a government would be a liability. Can a leadership unsure of itself meet the challenge of eliminating poverty and transforming the world's fastest growing economy into a developed nation?" he asked.

Congress - JD(S) formation do not look strong enough to continue and complete full term. From the beginning they have been facing difference in opinion concerning the portfolio allocation and some other minor issues. From a distance BJP opportunists are simply waiting to poison the leaders further to break the alliance.
For Congress it is going to very costly if they do not join hands and resolves issues amicably and continue.
Do not give opposition to mediate or offer sympathies (which are like crocodile tears)

Perhaps Mr. Jaitley forgot the Tears of a clown: The comic genius of Yeddyurappa.
Every Indian kid playing cricket quickly learns this piece of wisdom: When your team wins the toss, always always always, choose to bat first. At the maidan, gully or in the driveway, the team that bats first gets to tire the opposition out. Or run away after a batsman accidentally breaks a window-pane. Or create a scuffle and not bowl after batting first. Cricket may be a sporting game at the test level, life in the gully, like politics, is not fair.

In October 2007, cricketing mantras became metaphors for Karnataka politics, especially for those assembled outside the state BJP office to protest their leader being conned out of his turn at the crease, or more precisely the throne. Twenty months earlier, Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yeddyurappa, head of Karnataka’s BJP unit, had joined hands with H D Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) to forge a coalition government to rule the state. As per the agreement, the JD-S’s Kumaraswamy would be chief minister for the first twenty months, while B S Yeddyurappa played second fiddle waiting for his turn. In cricketing lingo, Kumaraswamy got to bat first, and with predictable results.

So it was that in October 2007, the CM-in-waiting's countenance bore the fury of a boy who had bowled and fielded all day, only to be snatched of his turn to bat. At the party meeting, Yeddyurappa’s slit-like eyes began to well up as rage alchemized to grief. It was the first of what would be many famous instances, when Yeddyurappa would weep in public. Karnataka’s crying (future) CM was born.

Yeddyurappa is an effortlessly lachrymose personage., crying more often than most toddlers. He's had so many occasions to weep that Yeddyurappa has often seemed less CM than a overwrought patriarch in a Kannada serial – without the glycerin.

I feel like HDK cried partly because, some BJP' and created a group saying HDK is not my C.M. and continuously targetted for not having mandate.
Part of the reasons also maybe from some disgruntled members of INC.
But HDK is quite clever also, every trouble he faces, he will try to gain public sympathy.
Being considerate is good, but it should be sincere.
The way BJP is troubling AAP, ignoring LKA, raising fuel charges by way of taxes affecting poor, increasing RTO fine, penalties without providing infrastructure, late filing fees even to the old etc. Their sympathy seems fake!

On a different note why do you go to the US for treatment? Did you have a mental breakdown in making a decision to go to the US for treatment and ditch your the gaumuthra elixr of life treatment from your great friend Baba ChorRamdev?

This F.M Mr. Arun Jaitley(Aam ka Gootley!) doesn't know what is his job as Finance Minister of the country.
Being a lawyer he thinks it makes wonders by merely speaking to the media and always be at the limelight.

Indian economy is in doldrums/shambles and all the GDP figures are fudged(not real or practical) and by the way what is your & BJP's business to interfere in Karnataka coalition government's affairs!

He(Jhootley) and Mrs. Nirmala Sitaraman ate more seet laddu's before the complete verdict came to picture during election results of Karnataka ....that probably damaged his kidneys all of a sudden and recuperating now with the borrowed one's, he still wants & dreaming of eating laddu's again???
He is probably one of the most 'arrogant F.M' of Indian Parliaments History!!!

Shiv Sena is making mockery of us every alternate day. Alliance with other state is just holding on because we have lot money to shut and stuff mouths whoever barks at us.
