Cristiano Ronaldo arrives in Italy to join Juventus

Turin, Jul 16 (IANS): Football great Cristiano Ronaldo arrived here ahead of his formal presentation as the latest acquisition of reigning Serie A champions Juventus.

The private plane carrying the Portugal international and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, landed at Turin's Caselle Airport on Sunday, Juventus said on Twitter, reports Efe.

Juve agree to pay Real Madrid a total of 112 million euros ($131.46 million) for the rights to the 33-year-old striker.

Ronaldo will undergo a medical on Monday at J Medical, a clinic owned by Juventus, before signing a four-year contract with the Italian club that calls for him to receive around 31 million euros a season.

Cristiano is scheduled to wrap up his first official day with the club by holding a press conference in an event at Allianz Stadium.

Last Tuesday's announcement that Cristiano Ronaldo was headed to Turin set off a frenzy among Juve fans to buy team shirts with his No. 7.

Massive demand for the CR7 shirts caused the club's online Web site to crash in the hours following news of the deal.

In his nine years with Real Madrid, Ronaldo became the club's all-time top scorer with 451 goals in 438 games, leading the Blancos to four Champions League titles, two La Liga crowns, and two Copas del Rey.
