Kundapur: Ghastly accident at Nellikatte – two dead, one serious

Kundapur, Jul 16: Two persons died and one sustained serious injuries when a car collided with a bus at Nellikatte Junction near here on Sunday, July 16.

Deekshith (21) from Malyady Hegde Mane and Kiran (22) from Hosamatha Charokotti are the deceased. Arun (21) from Holthur is the person injured.

Deekshith and his friends had gone to Jog Falls in a Santro car. When they were returning, the car hit Durgamba bus which was coming in the opposite direction. Deekshith died on the spot while Kiran died while he was being taken to the hospital.

While Arun was injured, other passengers also sustained minor injuries. All of them have been admitted to hospital.

Kundapur traffic police have registered a case. Circle inspector Manjappa visited the spot.

It is sad that car carried volleyball players.

The car had hit the bus while it was overtaking another vehicle.

    Unscientific and incomplete roads lead to accidents, but toll gates collection on full swing. Instead of fighting for rights we fight for cow annd religion politics!

    90 % accidents occour while overtaking. If we are careful while overtaking we can avoid 90% of the accidents.

    We see many accidents on daily basis with deaths and injuries. But drivers on road are still not careful.

    Below points should be kept in mind.

    1. Follow lane discipline, specially in curves. You should keep in mind any vehicle might come from other side any time in curves. Do not think yours is the only vehicle on road.

    2. Be careful while entering main road from cross road. Stop near the cross and if the way is clear then enter the main road.

    3. Overtaking should be done only if the way is clear. Specially avoid it in curves.

    4. Drive slow in junctions or where there is cross overs. You can encounter sudden surprises.

    5. Give suitable indicators while driving and also observe other vehicle's indicators and drive carefully.

    6. Safety things like seat belt should be worn, air bags should be always there even if costs little more. Life is more precious.

    7. Two wheeler on highways is a big risk. Experts should think about it to have a separate lane for them. We can save many lives if this is followed.

    8. Another important point is even if it 5 to 10 minutes late it is fine. Do not rush and loose presence of mind and meet in accidents.

    Good points.. every one should be educated on this.. Lot of youth loosing life becoz of just speed driving.. why dont they understand the dangerous... why dont they think of their family who will be waiting for them till they come home...

    Another thing is no strict law... i have seen many people over speeding on roads in front of a police men and he is least bothered... stop them and fine them heavy..because of these over speeding vehicles other commuters are also in danger...

    also there are many below 18 drivers.. catch hold their parents... jail them for atleast for one day....

    Sad part about these accidents are mistake of one leads to killing and injuring many. As per this report santro was overtaking other vehicle. And even picture says bus is in it's extream left possible trying it's best to avoid collision . Real pain is for the family members of the victim. RIP

    Give a vehicle to anyone under 25 to drive, something by the side of the road or on the road will attract our driver's vehicle.

    Under-25s should never be allowed to drive a vehicle - unless they are put through 500 hours of simulation driving tests.

    From THE LOOK OF IT, it appears that it was the mistake of the car driver who tried to pass another vehicle which caused the collision.

    It is for the Police now to investigate into the case.

    My sympathies to the members of the bereaved families.
