Mangaluru, Jul 14: "Action will be taken against private financiers, who harass the borrowers to pay more interest rate than agreed if the public complains about the same to the police," said, DCP Hanumantharaya.
He was replying to the issue on the private financier harassment faced by a lady caller in the 83rd police phone-in programme that took place at the police commissioner's office on Friday, July 13.
The lady who is facing the harassment, in her grievance, said, "Because of an unavoidable situation, we had taken a loan from the private financier. Now we are tired of paying the interest. When we are unable to pay the interest in a certain month, they harass us mentally. We get scared to complain against the financier."
The DCP assured the lady to come in person to the office of the police commissioner and they will take necessary action,
A caller complained about the missing of 'No Parking' board that was put on the service road near Kottara Chowki because of which the vehicles are parked on both sides of the road, which is obstructing the smooth movement of traffic. The DCP assured the caller of suitable action on the issue very soon.
A caller complained about the traffic block on the national highway near Baikampady and Thokkottu whenever there is a programme in the wedding halls. The DCP replied that the owners of the wedding halls will be instructed to provide parking space inside the hall premises only.
A lady complained about the overflowing of the safety tank of their neighbour and the water from the same entering their compound for the past four years. DCP guided the lady to approach the commissioner of MCC and book the complaint.
One of the citizens requested to run NERM buses to Kateel as the private buses plying between Mangaluru and Kateel are not providing tickets to the passengers.
DCP Uma Prashant, Inspectors Amanulla, Kumaraswamy and others were present.
Other issues highlighted at the programme by the public:
*Water is getting clogged near Bharath Mall Bejai, in front of MCC office.
*Boys are riding the bikes at high speed without wearing helmet near St Ann's College.
*School bus staff of Kaikamba Pompei School are not assisting the children to cross the road and drop them till home.
*Issue due to vehicle parking near a prayer hall at Moodbidri.
*It is difficult to cross the road at Bunt's Hostel.
