Karnataka government ignoring women safety: Maneka

New Delhi, Jul 12 (IANS): Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that the Karnataka government was "totally ignoring women safety" which was evident from the rising instances of harassment.

"I am worried about how the Karnataka government is totally ignoring women safety in the city. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy should pay attention to this critical issue," Gandhi tweeted.

On Tuesday, a woman who was travelling via Uber was threatened by the driver for not heeding his plea to cancel the trip.

In the last one month, there have been two more cases where women passengers had faced harassment while travelling with taxi aggregators in Bengaluru.

"This is the third case of harassment of a woman passenger by a cab driver in Bengaluru, in less than a month. My directions to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner to invoke criminal liability of cab aggregators like Olacabs and Uber has had no effect," she wrote.

Expressing her concerns over women safety, Maneka Gandhi had earlier written to Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and urged him to ensure that cab companies adhere to all safety guidelines.

Im proud to be born and brought up in Karnataka where people are literate and broad minded than those of North Indian or other states. When disaster strikes all people come running to help each other here. Less pollution, lesser crime rates in our state than UP Bihar etc . Its not because of any political reason but we kannadigas are literate and well mannered.

No Unnao, Mandsaur or Kathua type rapes in Karnataka ,that is why Maneka GANDHI is concerned about Karnataka women's safety ? So why not blame Pandit Nehru your Grandpa-in-law for this too just like your boss does regularly to cover his repeated failures ?

When rapes, murders, lynchings, loots and others most heinous crimes are done by her own party and affiliates, Maneka closes her EYES, EARS & MOUTH. Not a single time she raised her voice.
Such is her concern for women!

Only Bhartiya Jumla Party has the right of comment on women issue.
What about criminal, harassment cases against BJP MLAs and MPs? First remove such people from your Party, then go on and point out at others. :)
