Seer externed from Hyderabad for 6 months for 'provocative statements'

Hyderabad, Jul 11 (IANS): Hyderabad police on Wednesday externed a Hindu religious leader from the city for six months for allegedly making provocative statements against other communities.

Sri Peetham Swami Paripoornananda, who was under house arrest for last two days, was picked up by police early on Wednesday and was taken out of the city limits. Sources said he would be dropped at his ashram in Kakinada town in Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar issued Swami's externment order under Telangana Prevention of Anti-Social and Hazardous Activities Act, 1980.

The move came two days after Telangana Police externed film critic Kathi Mahesh from Hyderabad for six months for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus through his alleged derogatory comments on Lord Ram and Sita.

Mahesh was taken out of the city and dropped at his native place in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

The same day police had placed Swami Paripoornanda under house arrest as he had planned to launch 'Darmika Chaitanya Yatra' to protest Mahesh's comments.

The seer had announced the three-day yatra from Shiva Temple in Bodduppal on the outskirts of Hyderabad to Yadadri.

Paripoornanda was staying at a house of a real-estate businessman in posh Jubliee Hills.

Several leaders of BJP including former Union Minister and MP Bandaru Dattatreya and local legislator Chintala Ramachandra Reddy had called on him on Tuesday. Leaders of BJP, VHP and other organisations had taken exception to the police action.

The extenment order cited several instances of Paripoornanda making statements promoting enmity between communities.

The police said Paripoornanda, who started an organisation 'Rashtriya Hindu Sena' in November 2017, made provocative remarks at meetings at Hyderabad, Kamareddy and other places in Telangana.

    @Karthik,

    I know nothing such as death sentence for atheists. Your source of information seems to be wrong.

    @Karthik,

    To further support my clarification that there is no compulsion in Islam , take this verse from Quran:

    “There is no compulsion in religion; Truth stands out clearly from falsehood” (Quran-2:256)

    @Rathan,

    Note the difference between externed and arrested.

    In this case, the action was taken for the EXCHANGE OF DEROGATORY WORDS AGAINST "TWO COMMUNITIES"; by two people of same religion.

    In the case of so called goat faced MP, it was exchange of derogatory words AGAINST "PEOPLE OF TWO COMMUNITIES"; NOT BETWEEN COMMUNITIES.

    Any religion that preaches hatred, supports violence against people of another religion, race, tribe, language is a false and bigotry religion. The religion which preaches love, joy, peace, happiness, mercy, forgiveness, understanding is a true religion in the eyes of God and human beings. Those who preach hatred come from the evil world.

    Karthik and Robin.. Jossey is right in saying - no religion teaches hatred. Hatred is what is created by various group and religious preachers, by miss-interpreting the Holy Books. It is us humans who are treacherous and intolerant, not the saints who wrote those books. If a religious leader has correctly interpreted their respective books, they will never teach hatred or indulge in actions which are against to their order, example the orthodox priests of Kerala. They should be put behind the bars permanently as they went against their own Holy order and desecrated the holiness of the order. Similarly any Sage, Seer, Mulla or Priest, if indulged in hatred, they need to be banned.

    @Karthik,

    Islam does not asks Muslims to kill Kafirs. Quran gave PERMISSION to kill if they come to fight.

    The context is that- Earlier when the companions of the prophet had asked for the permission of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to fight and kill the people who were boycotting and killing Muslims for no reason and even many attempts were made to kill prophet Muhammad (pbuh). But each time the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) refused and did not allow to fight back.

    If Islam allows killing then Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) would have killed all Muslims after conquering Makkah. These were the same people who had troubled Muslims BEYOND LIMITS and even killed Muslims without any reasons. But Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) spared all of them and forgave them.

    I think you are wasting your time defending islam which i believe is simply unneceassary.

    Before pointing others faith, let them get through thier own religious scriptures first how they texts with PEACE.

    Quran says:
    Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), “Doth anyone see you?” Then they turn aside: Allah hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not. (Surah At-Tawba, 127)
