CM announces Rs 10 lac compensation to victim’s family

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (DC)

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Chief Minister (CM) H D Kumaraswamy, on Tuesday July 10, announced ‘Grama Vastavya’, village stay programme by CM, in Malnad region following the death of a school girl in Shivamogga district on July 9.

During the Assembly session, BJP MLA Araga Jnanendra on Monday briefed about a death of a girl in a canal due to incessant rains at Dudlimane.

In his answer, CM announced Rs 10 lac to the kin of the girl and also said that he would stay in the village for few days to know the issues related to the region. "I have directed the Deputy Commissioner to construct protection wall to avoid any such incident in the future," CM said.

It may be recalled that Ashika (15), a class 9 student of government school in Dudlimane village near Thirthahalli, while crossing the canal on a footbridge along with her mother lost her balance, slipped and got washed away by the force of the water.

This tragic incident occurred on Monday, July 9. The body of the girl has not yet been traced due to the incessant rains.

Since CM Kumarswamy made is mind to village stay as condolence for the 10 years, I would request the Chief Minister to extend stay and constructed cable bridge with the help of Indian Army unit of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) . This unit is capable of erecting bridges in hours and expertise in this field.
If CM is ready to spend Rs 10 lakh as compensation one permanent solution will save many villagers life easy.
In the meantime I ask the village committee to provide temporary netted nylon rope on both sides to avoid any slips in the future.
Meanwhile where is BJP party president Yeddyurappa who belongs to the same constituency? Is BJP leaders will visit this village only for votes?

The 10 lacs now promised would have been better spent earlier and saved the life of this young girl. Can you seriously call this a bridge - it is not even fit for cattle to cross. But then the cattle is more precious than humans. The authorities do not wake up unless some precious life is lost, in this case a young daughter in front of her mother. How sad and I can only pray to God to give strength to the family to bear this tragedy.

Forget the sixes of CM. It is sad that we do not have minimum infrastructure in most of the villages. Who is responsible for this.
