Diamond Jubilee for Rotary Club Udupi-Manipal , Amith Aravind is new president

Udupi, Jul 9: Rotarian Amit Aravind on Sunday 9 took over the presidentship of Udupi-Manipal Rotary Club. B N Ramesh, district governor installed the new office bearers. Prakash Hegde is the new secretary of Rotary Club Udupi Manipal.

Amit Aravind Nayak had served the club as secretary for 2017-18 and as treasurer before that. Geetha N Kausik handed over the official Rotary pin and file and wished good luck to the new president.

On receiving the new position, Amit Aravind Nayak said, “It is great pleasure to be the 60th president of the club. We got to learn many things through our conferences. I also took part in the international conference. Senior people are our guides. We are also increasing the membership of the younger members to the club. To promote a sustainable environment in society is our motto. I will lead this club with passion. I ask each of you to be an inspiration to the other.”

 

Rotary Club Udupi-Manipal was founded in 1958. The year 2018-19 marks the diamond jubilee of the club. On this occasion B N Ramesh unveiled the logo of the diamond jubilee celebration and the new calendar. Scholarships, atlas and dictionary distribution to the meritorious students was also held.

Guest of Honour Dr A Ganesha said, “This club is a role model for other clubs in the district. We are proud to have a 60-year old club in our district”. Another guest of honour Chandra Naik wished good luck to the new president, secretary and office bearers.

Aruna Shenoy, vice president Rajavarma Ariga, president elect Dr Shrikanth Prabhu, treasurer Dr Narayan Shenoy, joint secretary and other directors and chairman were also inducted on the occasion. Rotary Club Udupi-Manipal has taken various measures under its social service and community welfare activities. Rs 8.8 lac worth e-learning kits were distributed to schools. 120 sewing machines were given to ladies to take up sewing. The club took up many measures to develop Ajeevanagara Higher Primary School.

Speaking on the occasion B N Ramesh, district governor said, “5 past district governors are from this club only. Geetha Kausik has won 33 prizes during her term as president and proved that she is equal to any other male president. Make a plan and set the goal, focus on your goal and you will succeed. Growth is most important. If the club grows, Rotary grows. Launch Rotary Clubs in schools which will help in several ways. Let us share what we have.

“Doing good to others is not a duty, but a joy. Human beings know to talk and think rationally. 90% of the money contributed by Rotarians goes to health and life savings. Contribute toward the good of mankind. Rotary stands for love, friendship, fellowship and it is a family.”

Ann, Usha Ramesh Geetha Kaushik, IPP Aruna Shenoy, vice president were on the dais. Dr Srikanth Prabhu compered the programme.
