Hassan: Yettinahole project to be completed soon – minister D K Shivakumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Hassan (MS)

Hassan, Jul 9: "The government is committed to complete the Yettinahole project as soon as possible," said, D K Shivakumar, minister for water resources and medical education.

He was speaking to the scribes after surveying the work related to the project at Kappali, near Sakleshpur.

Giving further information on the subject, Shivakumar said, "I have noted that there is a resentment with regard to the Yettinahole project right from the beginning. I have little knowledge about the work that is undertaken so far. However, our engineering department is able to overcome the suspicions about the success of the implementation of the project,”

“Already 70% of the work related to the project in Sakleshpur taluk is completed. Acquisition of land is the obstacle for the remaining work," he informed.

People of Coastal districts have been hoodwinked by bangalore politicians who only care about their own vokkaliga caste. They are making you fight on stupid issues like religion, caste and Congress BJP etc. We need to realise that coastal districts can't be governed from bangalore. Wake up and fight for your political rights and your own state in India. Linguistically and culturally we are different and we need political freedom too.

Rightly said sir .Our coastal people were choosing between congress and bjp rather than important issues like this . Both these parties support this disastrous project and collectively we voted for both of them. Hate to say this but we still are not smart enough to understand what issues we are facing and who we have to vote for in order to save our coastal district

..why you people are asking Nalin kumar..he may have plenty of water for his home, moreover Sadanand gowda like leaders openly support this project.. its you people who are reeling under water shortage from january onwards, not politicians...society should stop speaking like politicians and fight to save this river..otherwise soon city has to live like Mumbai people who woke at 2:00AM waiting for a bucket water..

This govt. don't give a damn about south canara for its water and ecological problems stemming out of this project since it voted for BJP.
This project will definitely be completed soon in favor of areas that voted cong+jds.

Sri Nalin Kumar Kateel. Are you there? We only heard your promises. How about keeping your word Sir? Are we to assume that these promises were made just to garner some votes and they were never meant to be honoured? The previous district in charge minister was a passive spectator when our Netravathi river was to be diverted but you made some noises then. What happened now? As usual, all you politicians taking the people for granted. Right?

Yettinahole project is a biggest waste...

Evaporation of water is the biggest problem during summer..

If they pump 2tmc they will end up with only few hundred litre at the end use... And there won't be any water remaining after November to pump... Moreover during monsoon those places to receive good rain sometimes...

They should have considered using water from tunga or kaveri river which is more economical!

you have hit the bull's eye Sir, The Professor started it all, but the Politicians requested it or rather demanded it to fill their coppers. Logically water suppose to flow from top to bottom, here they are wasting our Money and their time to lift the water from bottom to Top. Now it is too late. The work is completed 70% according to news. Let us not cry over split milk but now let us think how to preserve our available Water resource.

Rain water harvesting is possible only when there is a thick layer of soil...

In costal region it is impossible and all ponds overflow during monsoon.. We have already reached saturation point
