Bengaluru: State will burn if Haj Bhavan is named after Tipu Sultan - BJP

Bengaluru, Jun 24 (DHNS): BJP leader K G Bopaiah on Saturday warned that "the entire state will burn" if the government renames the Haj Bhavan in Bengaluru after 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan.

The former Legislative Assembly speaker said the Haj Bhavan was meant for Haj pilgrims.

"It wasn't built to be named after Tipu Sultan, who was a traitor, murderer and one who converted Hindus," he told reporters. "It will lead to the entire state burning."

K G Bopaiah

Bopaiah, who represents the Virajpete constituency in Kodagu district, said it was the BJP that sanctioned the Haj Bhavan. "In my district, Tipu Sultan destroyed 310 temples and converted over 80,000 Hindus. Even today, Kodagu people see Tipu as a traitor and a fanatic. There will be severe protests in Kodagu (if the Haj Bhavan is renamed)," he said.

On Friday, Minority Welfare and Wakf Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan said the government received proposals from the Muslim religious scholars demanding that the Haj Bhavan be renamed as Hazrat Tipu Sultan Haj Ghar. The minister said a decision would be taken after consulting Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

The BJP has threatened state-wide protests if the Haj Bhavan is renamed after Tipu Sultan.

In 1881 first census under British raj conducted and the population of the princely state was less than 5.5 lakh, that is after after 100 years of Tipu Sultan ruling. From where this astronomical came from?
After the death of Tipu in battle, the Coorg was ruled under Linga Rajendra. But the death of his Rani Mahadevamma in May 1807 threw his mind out of gear and he began to show signs of insecurity and insanity. He is believed to be womanizer. In fits of rage, he ordered assassinations of his own officers and relatives. Once a palace coup was spoiled and he personally killed over 800 people and hundreds were executed by his African bodyguards. He also arranged the assassination of his two brothers in a rage thinking that the eldest daughter then could ascend the throne with ease.
There is also stories of Omkaresh Temple doom being demolished which is built in the year 1820. The fact is Tipu Sultan is died in the year of 1799. Gangadeeswarar Gudi is built adjacent to the Tipu Sultan's 'Lal Mahal'. To this date it is existing. There are no controversy temple being rang or pooja or Arathi.
In fact, back in 2012, the Department of Kannada and Culture had published a book titled Tipu Sultan. A Crusader for Change. Authored by Dr Sheikh Ali, the 338-page monograph speaks of Tipu’s achievements, acquisitions, and his fight against the British Empire. In the book, there is a message from the then Chief Minister BJP’s Jagadish Shettar.
In that letter, CM praises Tipu. In that letter, he even acknowledges that Tipu was a part of the Freedom struggle. There is also the matter of pictures of Jagadish Shettar, Yeddyurappa, R Ashok and other BJP leaders wearing Tipu Sultan turbans at public events before 2015.
Tipu Jayanti existed even before 2015. It was just not a state-sponsored celebration then.
The anti-Tipu campaign is just one part of the BJP’s strategy in Karnataka and it will go a long way in painting JD(S)-Congress as anti-Hindu.
Is it BJP's preparation for bypoll?

The truth is BJP is the political face of RSS. RSS is founded by Marathis. Marathas were plundering temples in Tippu's kingdom & Tippu chased them away, which is authentic history based on hard facts. Now the butthurt RSS cadres can't digest the bitter part of the Maratha history, which is why they are creating a bad image of Tippu.
But Hyder & Tipu were the only resistance against the British aggression in the entire South India. Tipu was a hero.
Regarding the persecution of the Christians, the then leaders of the community were sided with the British which brought the wrath of the ruler of the land upon the entire community. For this the then leaders should be blamed not Tipu.

Earlier, Nalini wanted to burn Kudla,

Now we have another Hanumantha who wants to burn Karnataka too.

Both of them do not want to see a progressive Karnataka under non-BJP rule.

My sincere advice to Muslim brothers, is do not insist on this issue, because you guys have so many patriotic Muslims among yourself, after whom you could name Haj Bhavan, or simply name it as "Haj Bhavan" for easy reference.

I remember once U.T. Kader came against the Gol Mal of Haj Business in entire India, which is highly appreciated.

As we live in a democratic and free India, I am not supporting the foolish idea of BJP, because I believe it makes sense to name the Bhavan after prominent Muslims of Karnataka, or say , former President Prof.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, which will boost the image of India as a whole.

Let's concentrate on how to fight communal and anti democratic forces in 2019 and also to build a better Karnataka under our newly elected CM.

No community, religion or common man would like to see their home, city, state burning! Politicians may enjoy it since they may earn huge wealth and power with such mischief !!

Coastal and Kodagu areas suffered badly during tipu rule.
