Moodbidri: Block Congress committee blames Ivan for engineering Abhayachandra's defeat

Moodbidri, Jun 23: The block Congress committee here has accused MLC, Ivan D'Souza, of indulging in anti party activities and ensuring that official candidate of the party from here and former minister, Abhayachandra Jain, was defeated. It also said that Ivan's activities also cast a shadow on the results of Mangalore south constituency where the party had fielded J R Lobo as its candidate.

The said analysis was arrived at a meeting convened in the block Congress office here under the leadership of former minister, K Abhayachandra Jain, in the presence of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee secretary, Rajashekhar Kotian. The meeting was organized to mull reasons for the defeat of Congress candidate in the local constituency. The meeting also resolved against making Ivan a minister or fielding him again in the legislative council election, it is learnt.

At the meeting, it was said that there are evidences to charge Ivan with fielding of candidates belonging to his community from Mangaluru in the council election from graduates and teachers constituencies against the party's official candidates.

Block Congress president, Valerian Sequeira, general secretary, Ratnakar C Moily, zonal president, Joachim Correa, Sukhananda Shetty, Vasu Poojary, Saneev Moily, Ratnakar Devadiga, Rukkayya Poojary, women's wing president, Supriya D Shetty, members of municipality and different gram panchayats were present.

The meeting also passed a resolution to thank Jayamala, who has become a miniser, and Harish Kumar, who has become member of the legislative council.
