Mangaluru Jun 23: Traffic ACP Manjunath Shetty visited and inspected the Airport Road at Bondel on Friday June 22 and assured to place cones, plastic humps, additional barricades and sign boards in the area which has become an accident zone.

Daijiworld had on Tuesday, June 19, had published a report on the road near Bondel Church where several accidents have taken place. A shocking video of a two-wheeler rider miraculously escaping with a minor injury after ramming into a car on the Airport Road had highlighted the risk of travelling down the stretch that has been witnessing frequent accidents. The traffic police took serious note of the issue and placed barricades here on Wednesday, June 20.

ACP Manjunath Shetty said, "We will install more barricades at this place where series of accidents are taking place. We will also place a hump to reduce the speed of the vehicles coming from Pachanady Road which is connecting to the Airport Road, along with few traffic cones as there is no divider on the long stretch which creates lot of trouble and has become one of the reasons for the accidents. Within a week, humps and additional barricades will be put up in this area to restrict the accidents taking place. Along with this, school zone board and sign boards will be put up in this area,”

When ACP Manjunath Shetty said that there is shortage of workers to fix cones and plastic humps, local people said they would help. They asked ACP to send the barricades, cones and plastic humps to Bondel and they would help to fix the same on the road.

Simple solution is put a hump on cross roads so that speeding of vehicles can be avoided.

It's appalling to hear the ACP say that there is shortage of workers to do the remedial life saving activity. I wonder where my taxes go! Also ACP Sir, please note that many police Jeep drivers including the interceptor vehicle drivers, ambulance drivers, etc., don't wear seat belt. Shrill horns being used in buses plying on father Muller road which has schools, colleges and hospitals.
