Mangaluru: CCB police unearth hi-tech prostitution racket, arrest two

Mangaluru, Jun 22: The city crime branch (CCB) police on Friday June 22 unearthed a major hi-tech prostitution racket that was being operated through a website, and succeeded in arresting two persons.

The arrested have been identified as Jeevan Poojary (27), a resident of Padu Palimar, Udupi, and K P Nagaraj (27) of Chennarayapatna of Hassan district. Among the two, Jeevan is said to be the pimp.

The accused were operating mangalore.locanto.net website through which they were providing girls to customers. Based on this information, the CCB police on Friday raided an aparment near Kottara cross on Bejai-Kapikad road and arrested the duo.

The accused had put up their mobile numbers on the website and customers who contacted them would be told to come to the flat, where they would be supplied girls.

The police also rescued two girls who were being used for the racket and handed them over women rehabilitation centre.

Two mobile phones and Rs 30,222 in cash along with a couple of two-wheelers were seized from the accused. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 1,26,295.

Two more pimps who were involved in the prostitution racket are absconding.

The arrested accused as well as the seized items have been handed over to Urwa police for further investigation.

CCB police inspector Shantaram, PSI Shyamsunder, Kabbal Raj, Urwa police inspector Ravish Naik and other police personnel were part of the operation.

    There are lakhs of families struggling in india. No one go prostitution to earn bread. Only some mentally retarded people will earn by selling themselves. Shame on you for such low comment.

    So, two are arrested, two more are absconding. What these four have told their family - where they are working ? Intelligence Department ? That forbids from giving information about their workplace ? So did the girls too, may be ??

    How come BD and other groups did not get news about this ? Their network generally gets into action within seconds from the time spotting two youth belonging to different communities ??
