Mangaluru, Jun 18: An NRI who had come to his hometown from abroad just days ago met a tragic death in an accident at Kapikad near Thokkottu here on Monday June 18.

The deceased has been identified as Manohar Belchada (50), a resident of Talapady.

Manohar was riding from Thokkottu towards Talapady when an Omni approaching from the opposite side rammed head-on into his bike. Manohar got thrown onto the road, and just at that moment, a Maruti 800 car ran over him.

Manohar who sustained critical injuries to his head was rushed to a local hospital, and then to another hospital at Deralakatte, where he was declared brought dead.

Very sad and tragic. How many bike accidents we hear everyday.sure the Omni man was driving fast and reckless.Tragic was just he was thrown on road another vehicle passed on him .If everyone would drive with some feeling on their driving way,and not high speed, could have many lives saved .May his soul rest inpeace, and heartfelt sympathy to his family. He was too young to apart from this world.

Very sad such an accident has occurred. Someone was at proper fault here- the road from Thokkottu to Talapady is a dual carriageway, there's no reason why two vehicles should collide head on on the same road.

Not even a day passes with out an accident. Sad news. Reckless driving by the Maruthi omni seems to be the cause here. Stirct monitoring and punishing of the reckless drivers is needed urgnetly KKS
